"Excellent. We learned what type of tree it was and the growth structure. Even though the trees should not have been planted in the location and close to the house, it was recommended that the trees not be cut down. We can makeover our yard by adding top soil to cover the roots (Bob told us how much top soil to use) and reseed and decorate as we choose. We also learned that these trees are not mature and in two years will need to call them back to access and probably do some maintenance like trimming. I was quite pleased and my husband was overjoyed that the trees didn't have to come down. My neighbors had the same issues but chose to cut them down. I know how important trees and plants are so it was important to me to get a professional analysis of my situation. To everyone - please, before you cut a tree down, get a certified arborist to look at your situation so you may have options and make the best decision for the environment. These trees were about 20 years old and still growing. Can you imagine the age of the trees that get cut down everyday without any thought of their benefit and the environment? I was quite pleased and will call them back. I will also recommend them to my friends."

"The Golden Boys Tree Service was here at my home when they said. They removed eight trees professionally alone with the stumps. They also did a good job cleaning up after themselves. Javon was easy to talk to and I plan to use his services again. I recommend them to anyone needing tree service."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Trimming your palm trees once or twice per year keeps them healthy and robust. Caring for palm trees includes cutting off brown leaves to prevent wildfires and pathway obstruction. However, you don’t want to over-trim the palm tree. Cutting too many branches off will weaken the tree and prevent future growth. And it’s essential to have a strong, healthy palm tree during hurricane season to prevent safety risks or property damage.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

The best time to trim trees is in late fall through winter when the tree has slowed its growing for the year. Cold weather stops insects and fungal growth from attacking a new tree wound. Summer and fall are considered the worst times to trim trees, but it’s permissible in certain scenarios, such as tree disease, damaged branches, or small, aesthetic cuts.

Burning a tree stump can be effective, but it comes with safety considerations and isn’t always best for every situation. It's essential to check local regulations and assess the safety risks involved. Stumps that are near wooden structures or other non-moveable flammable objects aren’t good candidates for burning due to the risk of the fire spreading. Alternatives like grinding or a DIY stump rotting project might be safer and quicker for getting the job done.

Steer clear of the area and contact your utility company immediately. It will have a website portal and/or a phone number to report downed trees and electrical issues. If the tree appears to be on public land, you may want to call your local government and report the issue there, too.
