Most of what we do is full tear-out and replacement. We remove the old cracked, settling, or spalling concrete, rebuild the base the right way, and pour new. We also handle driveway extensions and widening, aprons and curb cuts, stamped and decorative concrete, and concrete repair.\n\nOur crews have poured more than 38,000 residential concrete projects. Every job gets a dedicated project coordinator, up-front pricing with no surprise change orders, and a final walkthrough before we call it finished. Licensed and insured.\n\nNeed a new driveway? "It was my pleasure to have Marcial Stonework and Landscape do my driveway, it turned out excellent. My wife and I could not be more satisfied. Guillermo and his crew did excellent work and a lot of it. They were hard workers and worked all day sometimes even in rain. I will put Marcial Stonework at the TOP of the list of contractors for future work."

"I was very impressed with Patrick Stollenmaier and his crew. Patrick was very helpful, giving us alternative choices re materials to use for the patio and design. The price detailed exactly how they would execute the job (very helpful when a design has to be approved by the condo committee, as ours was!) He and his entire crew showed up exactly on time every day and worked until the tasks scheduled for the day were complete. They were very professional and polite and answered all of our questions or referred us to the crew member who could. Each day, they left the work site neat and clean. We love the patio and walkway that they created for us and neighbors have gone out of their way to tell us how much they like it, too. My only complaint is that initially Patrick was a little slow getting the price quote and project sketch to us. However, the fact that the crew showed up when they said they would, did the work in a completely professional manner, and finished the job on schedule far outweighs that complaint. We would definitely use Stollenmaier Hardscapes again."

"I had a concrete pad poured plus some gravel laid down in a couple of places & a retaining wall build for a driveway to my concrete pad. They did everything I asked for above & beyond my expectations! They were reasonably priced & I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"We recently purchased a home on lake lure and knew substantial repairs were needed on the walkway down to the dock and on the deck above the boathouse. After several failed attempts to get a contractor, we received a call from Jesse Summerlin. He quickly came to our home and did a thorough evaluation of our walkway and deck. Jesse then reviewed what he found and made his recommendations. He was able to quickly get our project scheduled and started. A few adjustments had to be made but that is to be expected with the size of the project. All extra work was reviewed with us before proceeding. The work was done to a very high level and in a timely manner, even with many rainy days. We would highly recommend Summerlin Exterior Solutions. Jesse was probably the best contractor I have dealt with. A"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.

In the United States, roads are usually categorized as one of three types: public roads, other drivable roads, and non-drivable roads. These categories dictate how a road can be used; a non-drivable road might be classified that way because it is heavily damaged and unsafe for cars.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

Yes, it is possible to pave over an existing driveway, but whether it's the right choice depends on several factors. If the underlying structure of your current driveway is still strong, concrete or asphalt resurfacing can be a cost-effective way to prolong its life. However, if your driveway has significant issues like potholes, deep cracks, or other inconsistencies, it is best to remove the old driveway and start from scratch. Key factors to consider include the current driveway's condition, the compatibility of the new material, the added thickness and height, and the necessary surface preparation.

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.
