"Most of what we do is full tear-out and replacement. We remove the old cracked, settling, or spalling concrete, rebuild the base the right way, and pour new. We also handle driveway extensions and widening, aprons and curb cuts, stamped and decorative concrete, and concrete repair.\n\nOur crews have poured more than 38,000 residential concrete projects. Every job gets a dedicated project coordinator, up-front pricing with no surprise change orders, and a final walkthrough before we call it finished. Licensed and insured.\n\nNeed a new driveway? "I needed some grading to expand my driveway area, scraping of old gravel onto new expanded driveway area, and delivery and spreading of top soil to fill in the old gravel area. I called on Saturday and Shane and Ian came out and completed the job on Monday. They did exactly what I asked and I appreciate that they were mindful of leaving a neat/clean slope beside the newly leveled area that will make it easy to seed with grass in the spring."

"It was my pleasure to have Marcial Stonework and Landscape do my driveway, it turned out excellent. My wife and I could not be more satisfied. Guillermo and his crew did excellent work and a lot of it. They were hard workers and worked all day sometimes even in rain. I will put Marcial Stonework at the TOP of the list of contractors for future work."

"The project went really well. The price wasn't the cheapest, but wasn't the most expensive estimate I received. Using 8 tons of heavy steps, the crew laid a beautiful walk and steps from our driveway to the bottom of our yard. Then they installed a planting bed and mulched it all. They worked by hand on a hillside for over 3 days. It looks really great, and I know we will enjoy it for years."

"After interviewing several companies, I chose GC Construction to replace and extend an existing driveway. They delivered perfectly and as discussed. Geovanni, the owner, made very helpful suggestions prior to the project. Their price was excellent. Communication was excellent. Their crew worked hard and meticulously. The end product turned out beautiful. I highly recommend GC construction."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In Asheville, neglecting to seal cracks before winter allows freeze-thaw cycles to cause significant damage. Using harsh rock salt for deicing also deteriorates the surface. Allowing leaves and organic debris to accumulate traps moisture, while poor drainage maintenance lets water pool from the area's heavy rainfall, accelerating breakdown. Consistently parking heavy RVs or trucks in the same spot can also create permanent depressions.

Helpful?

In Asheville, most residential asphalt paving installations take one to five days, depending on driveway size and terrain complexity. However, steep slopes, rocky ground, and unpredictable weather can extend the process. Including planning, site preparation, and any necessary permits, expect the full project timeline to range from three to six weeks, especially if coordinating with other upgrades or addressing drainage needs.

Helpful?

In the first five years in Asheville, minor settling and small cracks are common due to mountain soil conditions. From years 5 to 10, you will notice wear from high-altitude UV exposure and potential root interference from mature trees. After 10 years, major maintenance like patching is often required, with full replacement becoming a consideration after 15 years, depending on the initial installation quality.

Helpful?

A standard residential asphalt paving project in Asheville typically takes 2 to 3 days, including preparation. However, the timeline can extend to 5 days for larger or more complex driveways, especially those on sloped mountain terrain. Work is best done from May to October, but be aware that Asheville's frequent afternoon summer thunderstorms can cause weather-related delays during the project.

Helpful?

Asheville’s frequent rainfall and cool mountain temperatures require careful scheduling for asphalt paving. Projects should be timed for late spring through early fall, when temperatures consistently exceed 50°F for proper curing. Heavy spring rains can cause delays and affect grading, while winter freezes may damage new surfaces. Monitoring local forecasts and allowing extra drying time helps ensure a long-lasting, high-quality asphalt installation.
