"I highly recommend Comfort Central. Owner Kevin Schumann and his co-workers, Jay and Thomas, did an outstanding job installing the new HVAC system at our house. Over a four-day period, they set up in our crawl space a furnace/AC unit, a new plenum box, pipes for venting, and a dehumidifier with its own elaborate duct and water-removal system that will help keep our huge crawl space dry. They also put in a new heat pump in the backyard and a thermostat in the house. I was so impressed by the people and the work they did. Kevin and Jay are remarkably knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to HVAC issues. Thomas did a very good job with the aspects of the project that he handled. Every installation presents its own challenges, and one of the best things about Kevin and Jay is their ability to improvise as the project moves along. They considered different options when deciding on the size of the new system, where vents should go, how the duct system should be repaired and improved, the placement and venting of the dehumidifier, and many other things. They always kept the code requirements in mind. They were on time, friendly, communicative, and always considerate about how their work affected us while we were in the house. Kevin, Jay, and Thomas were also terrific when it came to answering my many questions. Kevin’s wife Laurie, who manages the office, responded quickly to my e-mails and helped with scheduling. HVAC projects can be expensive and complicated, and we wanted the right company to handle ours. We learned about Comfort Central from our home health specialist who had worked with Kevin in the past and had received very positive comments about his team from customers. I can recommend Kevin and the Comfort Central crew without reservation."

"Amazing!  Through Angies List web site I requested an estimate on a new HVAC system.  I suggested 3 different dates and times that would work for me the following week.  Within a half hour, I had an email saying they would call me soon.  Another 15 minutes and the call came in.
Any of my suggested dates would work, but, they had time TODAY if I was available.  It was my day off, so, yes, come on out.
Arrived on time and proceeded to give me two full hours of investigation and inquiry as to my needs and desires for a new system.  Presented me with a detailed proposal on the spot which highlighted, on the back, all of their guarantees and commitments.  Of the two previous quotes I requested, one has never arrived and the other took two weeks.
They pointed out complications that had not been noticed by the other companies.  (Quality did not know I had received other quotes)
My quote came in slightly lower than the other, but not for that reason only, I would only consider doing my business with Quality Air.  Even if they had been slightly higher on the quote, I would look forward to much better service and attention than from any other company I looked at.
The need is not urgent, so I haven't sighed a contract yet, but I feel no need to look further.  Next spring, these folks are going to be putting in a new HVAC unit for me.

"Logan and Ashton were at our home Tuesday and made short work of cleaning out our HVAC vents and returns and left no mess. They were professional and friendly and did the work for half the cost of a competitor. They also clean out dryer ductwork. Who knew!"

"Wade and his crew arrived on time and were professional, very knowledgeable and courteous. They worked carefully and were respectful of our home and furnishings. He kept us informed as the cleaning proceeded. They did a great job on a pretty challenging project, since the ductwork had probably not been cleaned in decades. We are completely satisfied with their work. Since we have another renovation project planned and we want to keep the system clean, we plan to contact them again after the completion of this next project."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While it's generally safe to stay in a home with a coolant leak if your home is properly ventilated, it's important to have a professional come out to assess the situation right away. You should evacuate your home if you notice any powerful fumes. Additionally, you should leave your home if you are experiencing headaches or dizziness.

The decision to put your AC unit on the roof or ground depends on the climate in your area, the roof shape, accessibility, and budget. If you live in a warm climate or don’t have existing ductwork, it’s likely best to stick to a traditional AC unit that sits on the ground. However, if you lack yard space, live in a mild climate, and have easy access to the roof, your home may benefit from a rooftop AC unit.

It’s not customary to tip HVAC technicians, and most professionals won’t expect it. However, it’s a nice way of showing your appreciation for the work they do, especially if they come out in inclement weather or on a weekend or holiday to fix an emergency issue if your heat or AC goes out in extreme temperatures. A good tip would be between 10% to 20% of the total bill, depending on how above and beyond the tech goes for your repair and on the total cost of your HVAC repair or service. For something like a routine tune-up or scheduled maintenance, tips aren’t expected.

While it is possible to add Freon to your AC unit yourself, it is not recommended. In fact, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) prohibits the handling of Freon without a license. Freon is a dangerous gas that can cause irreversible damage to your AC or yourself if not installed correctly. It is worthwhile to hire a professional to add Freon to your AC.

Look up your model number online to find additional information. Usually, you can just take a look at the old filter and find the brand name and dimensions to order a new one. When replacing the filter, always check that it’s pointed the right way to match the direction of your airflow. Many filters have arrows on them to help with this step.
