"I set up an appointment for a quote from Cape Fear based on a recommendation from a neighbor, and Justin came on time (he actually called and asked if it would be OK if he came early). He was easy to work with, seemed very knowledgeable, and very thorough as he looked at my current setup and discussed the various options for replacement. I liked some of the recommendations he made as far as adjusting some of the duct routing to ease air flow. I decided to have him quote a 2-ton Trane XL16c packaged AC / Gas Furnace unit and XL16c hybrid (AC and gas furnace / heat pump), which was brand new at the time - it wasn't even in their system yet. When I was provided with a quote, the paper listed the 3-ton unit since the 2-ton unit was so new, but Justin assured me that the price was for the 2-ton unit. I received another quote for the same unit from a different company, and the price was significantly lower. So, I went back to Justin and asked him to double check the price. He did confirm that the price listed on my quote was for a 3-ton unit and provided a new number for the 2-ton unit, but I was left with a bad feeling over what would have happened if I hadn't received a competitive quote and questioned them. Also, the other company I dealt with talked with the Trane rep, and stated while the XL16C gas pack was available in a 2-ton unit, the hybrid unit (with gas furnace and heat pump) was not available in a 2-ton unit. This quote process was at the end of December, and they offered an extra $500 off if we would install before the end of the year. Would they have taken the money for a 3-ton unit and only delivered a 2-ton unit, or would they have realized the error when I went to pay and said 'we quoted you the wrong price'? If I ordered the hybrid unit and paid for a 2-ton unit, what would have been delivered? These could have been honest mistakes or not - I really have no way of knowing. In the end, I didn't feel comfortable with the way the quote process went, so I decided to go with another vendor."

"The first time, Feb. 2016, we called All American we were very happy. They fixed our problem in a timely manner and were fairly easy to work with. However, when our problem came back 10 months later and we contacted them for assistance, they were immediately defensive, refusing any warranty, were late arriving, and hard to get on the phone. After coming by and trying to pump the tank in the dark when they couldn't inspect the system, we asked them to please come back the when there was enough light. They explained they could do that but it would cost us MORE than what we paid the first time. Then it was very difficult to get them to answer the phone to reschedule. We never minded paying to get the system fixed, but did think they lacked professionalism. Ultimately we found another company that fixed the solution at a very good rate and in good time."

Turns out that water in my foundation is what caused my original door and frame to rot out in the first place. Ralph and Tom were up front with me and recommended I not have the door installed until the water in my foundation was taken care of. Despite the headache of having just paid for a door and now learning that I would have to pay for a basement sump pump this was good advice and I appreciated Ralph and Tom's honesty. "The switch on the pump for my jet bathtub stopped working. I called several companies and none were able to fix it. I called Plumbing by BFW, and they came out, looked at my tub, took lots of pictures and said they would get back to me. After a few weeks, they called back to explain that the manufacturer of the pump no longer makes that model for safety reasons. Long story short, they did the research, found the suitable replacement, and installed the new pump. They were flexible in the scheduling of the work, were on time, and very professional."
