When he found the part for a very reasonable price, he urged me to fix the fixture rather than getting a new one and that was the right decision for us at this time. He drove out to get the part, installed it and then diagnosed the other problem promptly and expertly, again giving us a good suggestion -- this time to replace the fixture ourselves. I dropped my boat off on a Monday morning after having some trouble starting the motor on the previous Saturday at the lake, so I had asked them to try to solve the problem and also to fix my tilt-and-trim switch (they said a tune-up would be $80 and a $25 switch should do it); since I respected their pricing and was only into it for $100, I figure it would be a great time to replace a bent prop blade (the quote to replace it was $140),and finally I needed a small bracket for my trailer to support the motor guide arm (I figured that would be less than $20)... so I'm anticipating spending $260 and feeling pretty good about going to Tensen Marine at this point.
So, each day I would drive right by this shop on my way to work, but I noticed that I hadn't really seen my boat move at all during the first week. I called them ten days after dropping it off to see what the status of the repairs was (anticipating to pick it up soon) but I got a response that stated they "would be able to get to it over the next couple of days" and that the repairs shouldn't be "any trouble at all". So, I told them since it was already mid-September, I probably would just store the boat for the winter - I asked them what it would take to get my boat ready for the winter and the response I got was "it's no big deal, we'll just fog the carbs and stabilize the fuel".
Well, four more days later, I finally walked into the shop on a Saturday with my young son and daughter expecting to pay around $300, but when the women at the counter was done giving me her "what do you want" look, she casually grabs the invoice and says "that'll be four hundred and ninety-seven dollars". I felt like she had just kicked me in the stomach! Now keep in mind, since committing to the early figure of $260, I was expecting to spend around $300, so I said to her "how does that happen that no one from your shop has the courtesy to call and make me aware that an additional $200 was going to be needed for the repairs? She plays the "I'm just the cashier" card and just expects me to give her the money. At this point, I'm looking at my kids trying not to lose it and all I keep thinking to myself is "what am I doing spending this much money on a 1979 Lund with a 40 hp motor that I use a few times a year"!
I proceed to speak with one of the owners about the bill and I explained what I had agreed to and so we went through the invoice, itemizing and questioning why this charge and why that charge - because they charged me separately for "fogging the carb" and then a full $80 for winterizing. He tells me that some of the charges were questionable, then he wrote down my address and informed me that he'd look into it and likely send me a reimbursement check. GREAT! Until I wait another week only to hear nothing, so I call them back, only to find out that they are willing to send me a check for $35.... what... after all the breakdowns in communication and service, you feel that $35 is the right course of action?
Well, I guess my course of action as a consumer is that I feel it is important to give others the heads-up, and now I understand why people like us sincerely appreciate the ability to use a great resource like Angie's List! To end this story... the reimbursement check never found its way to my mailbox... and I have to wait six more months to see if the work they did will be satisfactory. Dale was on time, very professional and did the repair work very efficiently. Nice clean job and everything worked out nicely. He also explained things thoroughly and provided some great advice. Great work at a reasonable price.
This company is great! I had just moved to the area and really had no idea who to call to repair my furnace when it started making a horrific noise. I looked this company up and I will use them in the future! I called and they scheduled me in the next day, They scheduled me at 1 o'clock,...

"I hired Wencl Plumbing to install a radiant heating system (boiler and baseboard radiators). The system install was poor to say the least, and it didn't work right from the beginning. I had to hire another shop to remedy all their bad work and now Wencl Plumbing is coming after me with collections agencies because I subtracted what I spent to fix their bad work from their final invoice (which wasn't enough to cover it anyway, so I'm in the hole from fixing their bad work and they're still coming after me). I'd steer clear of this outfit, no quality control whatsoever, full of...excuses, lies, and misrepresenting facts. Update Feb 2023: Currently I’m paying another shop to complete repairs to the boiler because when Wencl Plumbing installed the water softener (at the time of the boiler install) they never actually started it up. The boiler is now receiving repairs as a result of the softener not being operational, and now the softener may require replacement because it was never actually started and has been trying to run all this time. The hits keep on coming, thanks Wencl Plumbing. Update July 2024: I was contacted by a collection agency looking to collect money on behalf of this hack shop. I told them the same thing I told the last folks. The only way I'm giving that idiot a nickel is if a judge orders it, and there will be a countersuit! I spent a boatload of money to finish the job that Wencl was hired to do and could not and would not finish. Wencl Pluming is run by a hack, there's no quality control, no accountability, no professionalism. This is in regards to management/ ownership, I'm sure some of the folks working there are great. My beef is with Sam Wencl, the hack pin-head owner."

"American Home Shield (AHS) warranty is replacing my broken microwave with a new one. I received the new microwave on 11/11/2020 and notified AHS it was in my possession. Part of the warranty contract includes the installation of the new microwave. AHS typically assigns contractors themselves. However, this time AHS contracted with C & R Services with a dispatch number on 11/13/2020 for C & R to assign a local contractor to do the install. After two weeks of waiting and not being contacted by C & R or a contractor, I called C & R to follow up on the status. They said it would be 1 to 2 weeks from the date they received the dispatch from AHS. I informed them it had been 2 weeks in which they replied that it would be another 2 weeks. As of today, 12/11/2020, 4 weeks from the date C & R received the dispatch, I have not been contacted by C & R or a contractor. C & R's lack of communication and customer service is absurd. AHS informed me that they do not have any authority over C & R."

FAQs for kenmore vacuum repair projects in Hibbing, MN
Common repairs for central vacuum cleaners include motor repair, electrical repair, and blocked filters. Central vacuum motor issues typically come with a burning smell and loss of suction. With these issues, you might need simple lubrication to keep it running smoothly, or for more extreme problems, you could need a motor replacement.
Electrical problems or losing suction strength, might be reasons to swap out electrical components for new ones. However, a local central vacuum repair professional can tell you the best plan of action for your system.
The average cost for central vacuum cleaner repair is $310, though prices can range from $120 to $500. Your total cost will depend on the type of repair needed and the type of central vacuum you own.
A minor motor repair, like lubrication, only costs around $50. However, if you need to replace your motor, you’ll be looking at a much higher price tag with a total of $100 to $500. Other fixes, like electrical work, are charged by the hour, which ranges from $15 to $55per hour.
The answer to repairing vs. replacing appliances depends on the type of appliance, the severity of the issue or damage, and the quality of it. If you’ve purchased a top-of-the-line small appliance, it’s almost always more cost-effective to repair it than to replace it. You should also consider the cost to repair it, though. If the repair cost is more than half the cost of a new version, lean toward purchasing a new one. Your small appliance technician could also help you decide by determining the expected remaining lifespan after the repair.
Small appliance repair costs average around $50to $400, with costs ranging significantly based on the type of appliance, the extent of the damage, the issue, the appliance brand, and the availability of replacement parts. Generally speaking, you’ll pay less for repairs on very small appliances, like blenders and toasters, than you will for microwave repairs. We recommend consulting a small appliance repair technician for a quote before starting the project.
Small appliances typically include microwaves, toasters, toaster ovens, food processors, blenders, mixers, slow cookers, air fryers, coffee makers, rice cookers, and any other appliance that can sit on your countertop. Major appliances include refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, cooktops, washers, and dryers. Some people may include HVAC equipment like condensers and air handlers in this category, too. Small appliances are more of a specialty, so there’s a good chance a typical appliance repair company won’t be able to service and repair small appliances.
