used the shuttle to go shopping in the area and that was a very nice service. Waiting area and sales floor very neat and clean. I thought how cool is that and said I would see him tomorrow. (RESPONSIVENESS = "A") At 7:45 the next morning I got a call from Conrad saying he was running late because of traffic. He arrived a 8:15. Not bad, not great. (PUNCTUALITY = "C") From 8:15 to 8:30 we chatted about the job (talked about his pole sander, talked about using a sealer after he was done, sanding, etc.) At 8:30 he said he needed to go to Menard's because his can of sealer was frozen and it needed to be replaced. So he left. He came back at about 9:00 with his new sealer. At 9:05 he filled his sanding vacuum with water assuring me that it was better than a HEPA. He got to work. 60 minutes later he came up to me to show me his work. To my surprise and disappointment, he sanded almost nothing!!! Instead he rolled one coat of sealer over the aforementioned glue residue and wallpaper chunks. Even the sealer was applied in a slipshod manner (he missed spots, etc.). He said he could come back in April to continue the work. Unreal. At 10:10 he was out the door. He took me off guard with his parting words "we good?" Bottom line is that I paid about $100/hour for one hour of work I didn't want. (Nice "big deal" for him - big bag of crap for me!). He could have spent the remaining time doing other work in the room (ceiling prep, baseboard prep, patching holes, etc). I really felt used by his "take the money and run" approach.

He drove out to get the part, installed it and then diagnosed the other problem promptly and expertly, again giving us a good suggestion -- this time to replace the fixture ourselves. I dropped my boat off on a Monday morning after having some trouble starting the motor on the previous Saturday at the lake, so I had asked them to try to solve the problem and also to fix my tilt-and-trim switch (they said a tune-up would be $80 and a $25 switch should do it); since I respected their pricing and was only into it for $100, I figure it would be a great time to replace a bent prop blade (the quote to replace it was $140),and finally I needed a small bracket for my trailer to support the motor guide arm (I figured that would be less than $20)... so I'm anticipating spending $260 and feeling pretty good about going to Tensen Marine at this point.
So, each day I would drive right by this shop on my way to work, but I noticed that I hadn't really seen my boat move at all during the first week. I called them ten days after dropping it off to see what the status of the repairs was (anticipating to pick it up soon) but I got a response that stated they "would be able to get to it over the next couple of days" and that the repairs shouldn't be "any trouble at all". So, I told them since it was already mid-September, I probably would just store the boat for the winter - I asked them what it would take to get my boat ready for the winter and the response I got was "it's no big deal, we'll just fog the carbs and stabilize the fuel".
Well, four more days later, I finally walked into the shop on a Saturday with my young son and daughter expecting to pay around $300, but when the women at the counter was done giving me her "what do you want" look, she casually grabs the invoice and says "that'll be four hundred and ninety-seven dollars". I felt like she had just kicked me in the stomach! Now keep in mind, since committing to the early figure of $260, I was expecting to spend around $300, so I said to her "how does that happen that no one from your shop has the courtesy to call and make me aware that an additional $200 was going to be needed for the repairs? She plays the "I'm just the cashier" card and just expects me to give her the money. At this point, I'm looking at my kids trying not to lose it and all I keep thinking to myself is "what am I doing spending this much money on a 1979 Lund with a 40 hp motor that I use a few times a year"!
I proceed to speak with one of the owners about the bill and I explained what I had agreed to and so we went through the invoice, itemizing and questioning why this charge and why that charge - because they charged me separately for "fogging the carb" and then a full $80 for winterizing. He tells me that some of the charges were questionable, then he wrote down my address and informed me that he'd look into it and likely send me a reimbursement check. GREAT! Until I wait another week only to hear nothing, so I call them back, only to find out that they are willing to send me a check for $35.... what... after all the breakdowns in communication and service, you feel that $35 is the right course of action?
Well, I guess my course of action as a consumer is that I feel it is important to give others the heads-up, and now I understand why people like us sincerely appreciate the ability to use a great resource like Angie's List! To end this story... the reimbursement check never found its way to my mailbox... and I have to wait six more months to see if the work they did will be satisfactory. Was the best experience I've had with a company in installing and repairing something I needed done.

"American Home Shield (AHS) warranty is replacing my broken microwave with a new one. I received the new microwave on 11/11/2020 and notified AHS it was in my possession. Part of the warranty contract includes the installation of the new microwave. AHS typically assigns contractors themselves. However, this time AHS contracted with C & R Services with a dispatch number on 11/13/2020 for C & R to assign a local contractor to do the install. After two weeks of waiting and not being contacted by C & R or a contractor, I called C & R to follow up on the status. They said it would be 1 to 2 weeks from the date they received the dispatch from AHS. I informed them it had been 2 weeks in which they replied that it would be another 2 weeks. As of today, 12/11/2020, 4 weeks from the date C & R received the dispatch, I have not been contacted by C & R or a contractor. C & R's lack of communication and customer service is absurd. AHS informed me that they do not have any authority over C & R."

"My chest freezer broke down and I did not want to buy a new one since I could not afford the same size. I reached out to appliance parts pro and they were confident that what I ordered would fix my problem. $200 in parts later and I now have a broken freezer on my porch and am still paying the loan to this terrible company. They just want you to order parts and try them because they know you can't return them. I hate this company with every fiber of my being and will make sure that anyone that has a broken appliance will not use them. To top it off, their site is so screwed up that it give you an error trying to log back in. I ended up having to create THREE different accounts because every time I went to place a new order, it would not let me login and it would not send a password reset email. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF."

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.
"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

FAQs for kenmore vacuum repair projects in Eveleth, MN
Common repairs for central vacuum cleaners include motor repair, electrical repair, and blocked filters. Central vacuum motor issues typically come with a burning smell and loss of suction. With these issues, you might need simple lubrication to keep it running smoothly, or for more extreme problems, you could need a motor replacement.
Electrical problems or losing suction strength, might be reasons to swap out electrical components for new ones. However, a local central vacuum repair professional can tell you the best plan of action for your system.
The average cost for central vacuum cleaner repair is $310, though prices can range from $120 to $500. Your total cost will depend on the type of repair needed and the type of central vacuum you own.
A minor motor repair, like lubrication, only costs around $50. However, if you need to replace your motor, you’ll be looking at a much higher price tag with a total of $100 to $500. Other fixes, like electrical work, are charged by the hour, which ranges from $15 to $55per hour.
The answer to repairing vs. replacing appliances depends on the type of appliance, the severity of the issue or damage, and the quality of it. If you’ve purchased a top-of-the-line small appliance, it’s almost always more cost-effective to repair it than to replace it. You should also consider the cost to repair it, though. If the repair cost is more than half the cost of a new version, lean toward purchasing a new one. Your small appliance technician could also help you decide by determining the expected remaining lifespan after the repair.
Small appliance repair costs average around $50to $400, with costs ranging significantly based on the type of appliance, the extent of the damage, the issue, the appliance brand, and the availability of replacement parts. Generally speaking, you’ll pay less for repairs on very small appliances, like blenders and toasters, than you will for microwave repairs. We recommend consulting a small appliance repair technician for a quote before starting the project.
Small appliances typically include microwaves, toasters, toaster ovens, food processors, blenders, mixers, slow cookers, air fryers, coffee makers, rice cookers, and any other appliance that can sit on your countertop. Major appliances include refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, cooktops, washers, and dryers. Some people may include HVAC equipment like condensers and air handlers in this category, too. Small appliances are more of a specialty, so there’s a good chance a typical appliance repair company won’t be able to service and repair small appliances.
