I am a company of one and use subcontractors only when absolutely necessary. 99% of the work I take on is performed by me. Smithwright Home Improvement is licensed with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission since 2004 under license# 89597. I've done mostly flat-fee work under contract with the home owner. Small projects, or handyman related work, bills out at $80/hour with a 3 hour minimum. Angie's List customers receive a 10% discount off labor charges that invoice over $500.00. Discounts do not apply to materials cost which are in addition to labor charges. I do not add any additional costs to materials. You pay what I pay. My business, up to now, has grown strictly through referrals from satisfied customers. "Work was completed. Contractor did an estimate to replace planks and return to do refinishing. The new planks were installed with labels face up. Not sure if that was a lack of attention to detail or not. I do not know how much that matters once the project is complete. Contractor also left behind his blower. After I called the company to let them know, they said they would have someone contact me to arrange to pick it up but no one ever did. It's still in my backyard sitting there under the tarp."
