"Overall, the finishing of my basement went pretty smooth. The Owens Corning product, drop down ceiling, and flooring are all really sharp. In the beginning everything went fast and smooth with the framing and wall/floor/ceiling install being done within 2 weeks. There were some hiccups with minor imperfections, tv mount in wrong spot, etc. Those were fixed promptly. After that is when I ran into issues with other items in my contract that were not taken care of and the project felt forgot about. Just had some minor electric work, stairs to get carpeted, and didn't receive hanging clips yet. I had to constantly ask about these items and every answer would be "I forgot to ask or send the clips". I eventually got the items completed, but am not happiest that it took almost a month and constant reminding to get these items that should've been scheduled for during the project."

"We selected DMV based on our previous experience with the company, starting with Rolando who successfully remodeled our kitchen and 3 baths back in 2015. This time we had an emergency and Javier responded quickly, asking his men to remove a cracked tub and demolish the surrounding tiles. In their place they installed a new tub and plumbing plus beautiful new tiles for the surrounding wall, adding 2 grab bars, one for the tub and the other for the Master shower to prevent our slipping and falling. They cleaned the grout in our Master shower and Hall tub, applied silicone and sealant, and painted the baseboard and wall near the tub. Aside from the work in the bathroom and shower, they replaced the screen in an exterior window, secured some areas in the garage ceiling with screws, and removed, painted and reinstalled our exterior shutters. Muchas gracias to David and David! Bon trabajo! During the early, uncertain days of the Pandemic when we were nervous to have anyone do remodeling inside our house, we asked Javier to do some work outdoors. He ordered a wood storage shed from Home Depot and it was delivered to our front yard without telling anyone. The DMV men unpacked the box and discovered some necessary parts were missing so returned to Home Depot to buy them. They leveled the slope in our backyard and set the foundation for the shed. Then they added shingles, windows, doors, and a ramp. They painted the outside of the shed and added a ramp, selecting a sturdier paint for the latter. They installed a screen all around the bottom edge of the shed to provide ventilation and keep the animals out. Finally they moved the items to be stored from our garage to the new shed, opening up more space in the garage for the remodeling of the 1st and 2nd floors of our house. Muchas gracias to Jose, Carmina, Orlando, and Wilmer! Bon trabajo! Finally after a long wait due to the Pandemic we remodeled the 1st and 2nd floors of our house with Javier once again in charge. The workmen skillfully disassembled and/or moved furniture, file cabinets, supplies, and 100s of books and other items to different locations in the house and garage. Then they installed new lighting: 53 recessed lights, 9 dimmers, and a new electrical outlet near the vanity. When a bookcase was added on the right side of my new digital organ they moved the organ to the left along with 2 recessed lights shining above the organ to more effectively illuminate the music rack. And finally they installed a special circuit breaker for the organ. They installed cabling for 3 internet connections to the computer network giving access to the basement, living room, and 2nd floor. They installed the wiring for electrical power to 3 printers, one on each floor. Next they replaced our carpet with beautiful hardwood floors in 7 rooms, a small hallway, and a stairway. They removed 5 single doors on the 2nd floor and replaced them with solid core doors. They installed and painted 2 bi-folding doors for our utility closets. They painted the walls in 7 rooms, a small hallway, and a stairway first removing wallpaper in one room and 2 wall borders. They took special care in the den, repairing one wall and a big hole in the ceiling before painting. They did a great job of painting the ceilings, touching up 4 textured ceilings and smoothing out 3 others in a more elaborate process that included repairing drywall and removing texture, preparing the ceiling for painting, and then actually painting it. They installed and painted shoe molding in 7 rooms. And last but not least they repaired bathroom door frame and painted the nearby wall and a baseboard that had some paint splotches from a previous job. The DMV workmen did some additional jobs not related to repairing and painting walls and ceilings, or installing hardwood floors. The installed 5 smoke detectors, 7 curtain rods, a new Bosch dishwasher, and new blinds to replace blinds accidently damaged. They caulked a bathtub, cleaned grout in a shower and caulked the area near its door. In order to prevent heavy bookcases from toppling over they secured 10 bookcases to the wall. And in a final visit they even tightened screws in the kitchen cabinets installed by the previous DMV contractor. Muchas gracias to the 2 Maynors, Geovany, Jesus, David, Danillo, Diego and the flooring team, Grover, Luis, Orlando, and Fairo. Bon travajo! The quality of materials and workmanship on the outdoor shed and remodeling of bathroom, first and second floors was exceptional. Because we are an elderly couple we really appreciated the extra help in moving things around throughout the projects. The workmen were punctual, polite, honest, skilled, hardworking, and flexible in adjusting to changes from time to time. They always took care in sealing off work areas, covering floors, and cleaning up at the end of the day. The price seems reasonable because sometimes they did extra work not previously budgeted like extra painting or changes when were not satisfied or had new ideas. Javier is great at planning, communicating and executing the work, but could certainly benefit from having a right-hand man to assist him when he is not immediately available. We would highly recommend DMV and have already signed a contract for remodeling our basement that includes vinyl flooring, lighting, painting, and installation of storage shelves. "Joe Zouine, was our designer and worked closely with us to be sure that we were making the most of the space we had in our kitchen. He asked great questions and we were able to get the project off the ground in a matter of weeks, from the time of the design and contract to actual start of the project. The project began on schedule and the demo of the old kitchen was complete in about 3 hours! The completion of the new kitchen took a good bit longer than anticipated due to some miscommunication with regard to where the permits were to be obtained, but the finished product is amazing. For the most part, we couldn’t have asked for better communication from VKB. At the end of every work day, the Project Manager called me to ask if we had any concerns, if the workers arrived on time and asked approximately when they wrapped up for the day. At the end of those daily conversations, we were asked if the workers were polite, took precautions so as not to cause any more disruption to my daily routine as necessary, and that they cleaned up behind themselves at the end of the day. We were always happy to report that they indeed did as they were instructed and I was also told at what time to expect the workers the next day. The Project: • Demolished the old kitchen and hauled it away • Moved my current refrigerator to my garage and got rid of the old refrigerator that had been in the garage prior to the project. • Moved the range (which was new and was being kept) to the garage with the new appliances • Removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen area and the half wall between the kitchen and breakfast room. • The wall between the dining room and kitchen was found to be load bearing and required the installation of a support header. One was installed according to PG County specs. The City of Laurel specs, however, were a bit more stringent and required a much larger and differently placed header. The header was ordered and was installed properly and to code. • Removed drywall from the exterior facing wall in the kitchen, and installed much better insulation, vapor barrier, and used heavier drywall materials in order to make sure that the kitchen was sufficiently insulated. The insulation that was there was not nearly sufficient. • They reworked the vaulted ceiling in the dining room so that the ceiling fixture could be located to the center of the ceiling instead to one side as the builders had placed it. It had always bothered me and figured while we were making a huge mess, we’d take care of that too. Now the ceiling medallion fits perfectly. • They replaced all of the baseboards and painted same. They also painted the walls, window trim, and ceilings. • Removed the old flooring, leveled the floors where they were not level and installed the new flooring. Originally we’d wanted to get large plank tiles for the kitchen (extending into the dining room and breakfast room), but was advised that, since our house is on a crawl space, the tile would be very cold and we’d probably feel it through out shoes. We went with something that had the same appearance, but was much better insulating material. This conversation saved us from an extremely cold floor and saved money. • The recessed lighting, dimmers, lighting fixtures and electrical outlets were installed. Our job required a completely new (much larger) electrical panel. The expense was expected since we were adding a few additional items for future projects and wanted to make sure that the GFI outlets were placed correctly. This was also an added complication because of being located in the City of Laurel. The building codes are different from county to county and even areas within a county. There was a little confusion about this, but they worked through the difficulties and made it right. • The cabinetry was finally installed and it was beautiful. When they unpacked the new refrigerator, we noticed that it sat out much further into the room then we expected. We all scratched our heads for a bit and came up with a fix for the problem. It was an added expense, but it wasn’t the fault of VKB. We measured the width and height of the new larger refrigerator, but never imagined that it would be THAT much deeper than the old refrigerator. Boy, were we wrong! We had the cabinets on the refrigerator side of the kitchen, uninstalled and pulled forward, flush with the wall, so that the refrigerator fit much better. They even moved the water line for the ice maker way over in the corner of the refrigerator space so that the refrigerator could go back a couple of inches. • They installed the new microwave and placed the existing range back in place, a more powerful disposal, and an Instant Hot. • The granite was installed over the kitchen counters and coffee bar as was the glass tile back splash. A couple of items need adjustments and those items were taken care of as requested. • The vertical dividers for my baking sheets, which went in the cabinet over my refrigerator, took many weeks to come in, but they were definitely worth the wait. • We have changed out the plain glass panels from the kitchen cabinets for ones with a “rain” texture. The plain glass constantly needed to have finger prints removed. The textured glass will also require cleaning of course, but the day-to-day smudges are not nearly so apparent. We love our new kitchen and are looking forward to working with VKB on as many as three additional projects, master bath, guest bath and powder room. VKB may not be the least expensive renovation specialist, but we can say that we got out money’s worth, otherwise, why would we consider hiring them for additional projects in our home. We’ve included a number of pictures of the kitchen before and after the renovation. As you can see from the before and after pictures, it was quite an amazing transformation."

Customers say: True professional

"Devin Nasvaderani of Marvel Homes rebuilt my small bathroom
from subfloor to ceiling.  Water had
leaked down through the subfloor into the dining room downstairs, so the entire
bathroom had to be rebuilt.  I took
several months to talk to a number of contractors, and I am very glad I got
Devin.  Devin listened carefully to what
I wanted, making suggestions as requested but never trying to ?upsell? me.  As an old budget officer, I was determined to
make sure there were no surprises at the end, but not only was the work
completed on time and on budget, but the extra items I ended up asking for were
delivered at less than I had expected, and were done with the same excellent
quality as the scope work.  In some
cases, Devin advised me strongly that some work the other contractors said
would ?probably? be needed, was not needed.  His ?allowances? for tile and plumbing were
the only realistic such estimates I got from any contractor, and he passed on
his contractor discount to me at the tile and plumbing shops, allowing me to
build a very nice, quality bathroom at less than the originally estimated price
point.
The work quality was excellent, and his crew were
professional, polite, clean and non disruptive.
He managed to gain me several more inches inside the shower, put
insulation against the outside wall that the original home builder had not
bothered with, and generally fixed up all the weak points of the original
bathroom.  The bathroom, although small,
is the ?master bathroom? so the crew had to go through my bedroom to access it.  Each morning, they covered everything in my
room with plastic, put tarps from the front door to the bathroom, and every
evening removed everything and vacuumed, leaving my room absolutely clean each
night.  They were even fairly quiet,
considering the nature of the work. (the hammering etc sounded ?precise? and
methodical to my untrained ear, never just banging away.)  So, my highest recommendations for this work.

"APX turned out to be the best option for us. Originally recommended by one of our neighbors we selected APX because it offered a fair price and because Alex gave her sage advice to help finalize what we wanted to do. Under his contract we had to pay for the labor and materials separately with the materials being reimbursed as they were purchased either by ourselves or by the contractor. This was kind of a good thing because my wife wanted to take a lot of time to pick just the right tile and other furnishings for the remodel. In addition, Alex helped us pick out the material materials, actually coming to the floor decor store and to Home Depot with us. He and his employees actually picked up the stainless steel. Bathtub to make sure that the one we actually got didn’t have any chips or blemishes was a common problem I saw in the reviews for all the stainless steel bathtubs.. He also picked up the heavy tiles. The construction did a very nice job and it looks great."

"We bought an older place that was cramped, boring and didn’t have a good flow. The team at Top Remodeling helped us figure out a better design and layout. They demolished some walls and added a support beam to open things up. We also built out the back with a new family room. That gave us a lot more space to spread out. We chose wide oak floors and neutral colors with matte black fixtures. They got all the details right, even the trims and ceiling steps. It really feels like a home that works for the way we live now."

"The service was great. Meartie, Mr. Randolph and Neal arrived everyday at 8am and left by 3pm as promised. All of my furniture was rapped securely as well as the floors. I did not come home at the end of the day to a mess, they cleaned and carried out trash each day. Once they was finished working I was completely satisfied with the worked they had done especially the living room/dining room ceiling because it was a popcorn ceiling and I did not know how it would turn out. Meartie, Mr. Randolph and Neal did a wonderful job and I will refer them to people I know."

FAQs for popcorn ceiling service projects in Sandy Spring, MD

You should have your spa or hot tub inspected and serviced yearly to prevent more costly repairs. Regular hot tub maintenance can save money and help keep you safe from hazards such as faulty wiring. Call a professional hot tub repair specialist, who will know what common issues to look for and have the parts and tools on hand to fix them immediately.

Pool repair costs vary depending on the type of pool. Repairing an inground pool ranges from $350 to $2,700, depending on the extent of the repairs needed. Repairs to an above-ground pool usually cost $100 to $700. The most common repairs include patching or replacing the vinyl pool liner, fixing plumbing or electrical lines, and repairing pumps, filters, and other equipment.

The cost to repair a hot tub or spa ranges from about $170 to $550, depending on the repairs needed. Some of the most common hot tub repairs include leaks, clogged filters, and tripped GFCI breakers. If it’s an electrical problem, you should contact a professional hot tub repair service. Don’t DIY electrical repairs on a hot tub, as poorly repaired wiring can make the hot tub a serious electrocution hazard.

Depending on the size and type of pool, cleaning services cost about $80 to $150 per month, or $960 to $1,800 per year. Pool maintenance and cleaning services often include:

  • Testing the pH levels of your water
