"Wilber’s painting repaired our textured basement ceiling and painted the entire ceiling. They came on time and were great to deal with. They helped discuss the situation with the insurance company, which helped us get everything approved in an expedited fashion. We would definitely recommend Wilber’s Painting to others!"

"Had a large and unsightly hole in the ceiling sheet rock in the bedroom (I'd Accidentally slipped off a beam in the attic and put my entire foot through the ceiling. Area needing repair ended up being about 4 ft square. Danny did a fantastic job end even matched the ceiling texturing. Absolutely outstanding work. I have a couple other home projects I'd like to get done and will definitely hire him again!"

"The crew did a great job painting and refinishing my front porch. They even patched up missing concrete bordering trim. I didn't think the house power-washing was needed until I saw the before and after difference !"

"All I can say is he is amazing. I had a complicated plaster need that had been poorly done by previous contractors and had reached the point of thinking a good looking ceiling was not possible. He proved me wrong and helped with other things and was flexible and helpful in every way possible. Hire him !!"

"The quality of the work was excellent! The lanterns were over 26 years old, but Bill's persistence and knowledge of his craft enabled him to overcome some obstacles and successfully complete the task. The weather went from Spring like to cold Fall weather. This made the repair of the concrete porch more challenging. Again, Bill persevered over a period of a few days to bring this part of the project to a successful conclusion. I fully intend to secure Bill's services in the near future to do more work at my home."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to remove texture from walls is the soak-and-scrape method. You’ll need to spray a section of the wall with water and let the water soak in and soften the texture. Then, you need to scrape the texture off using a drywall taping knife. This method works best with unpainted walls since paint prevents water from saturating the textured joint compound.

When steaming falls short, consider utilizing a commercial texture remover tailored for popcorn ceiling removal. Adhere closely to the manufacturer's guidelines and conduct a preliminary test in an inconspicuous spot to verify compatibility with your ceiling. This specialized product offers an alternative solution for stubborn texture removal, potentially streamlining the process while safeguarding the integrity of your ceiling surface. Remember, products like these may be high-VOC, so wear protective gear.

Yes, you can cover a popcorn ceiling, which is often more cost-effective and easier than scraping it off. Common methods include using ceiling-grade drywall, applying a skim coat, or installing beadboard panels to create a smooth, updated finish. Covering the ceiling can also protect you from asbestos exposure if the material contains it. However, it's important to note that this method only seals off the asbestos and does not eliminate it, which could be a concern for future renovations or home resale. If you suspect your ceiling contains asbestos, it's best to hire a local asbestos abatement company to test the material and manage its safe removal.

It depends on the type of texture you’re adding but yes, you can often use a roller to texturize a ceiling. The roller needs to be able to hold enough medium to create some relief on the ceiling but not so much that gravity will pull it off before it dries. Using a roller with a nap between ½” and ¾” will allow the roller to hold enough material to do the trick.

After removing any type of skylight, you have a few options for the ceiling. You can patch and repair the ceiling to match the surrounding area, ensuring a smooth and seamless finish. Alternatively, you can install a light fixture or a ceiling fan in place of the skylight to maintain functionality and enhance the room's lighting and ventilation. Ultimately, the choice depends on your preferences and the specific requirements of the space. No matter what you choose, you’ll probably want to call in a pro to help.
