"Our inspector, Mike Mele, was wonderful. From start to finish, he not only was very professional and polite, but he did an amazing job of telling us our problems (pretty major) without fear mongering us into upsales. He told us our problem, recommended a solution, gave us a very reasonable price to said solution, and then constructed us a payment plan process that won't hurt our pockets and will ease our stress. Thank you so so much! Im freaking amazed and grateful as hell."

"We got an estimate for two jobs: minor repair to our front stoop and to lay a new concrete floor in a storage space under our house.  Both estimates were very reasonable and lower than prices quoted from other contractors.  When we had unexpected car repairs that same month, we chose to just do the $220 repair work to our stoop and postpone the larger concrete job.  Mason was very understanding (whereas another contractor had said they wouldn't come out to just do the stoop repair - it was too small of a job).  The crew came on time, worked for several hours, and the job was very well done.  Mason was in touch with us at every step of the process and was always very professiona"

"The installation of the egress window and sump pump was performed in a skilled and professional manner. It's a complex and dirty job that really needs to be done right the first time. While Jordan is not the cheapest, the work done was of the highest quality. After the project was completed, the walls were repaired and everything was meticulously cleaned. Jordan went the extra mile. I would definitely recommend JDS Home Improvement."

"

I shopped for a bow window.  I interviewed eight companies.  I decided on Champion.  Why? They are the manufacturer.  Offer the best warrantee.  And the best window quality.  Jim Mueller my rep was excellent.  Expert in the field and home improvement, professional and accommodating (I am not easy to please).  The installation crew was top notch.

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.

They meet local code demands for escape routes, lighten basements, and aid in reducing overall humidity.

Finding a reputable contractor for an egress window installation involves researching and vetting potential candidates. Start by searching for local professionals, reading customer reviews, and checking their websites for a portfolio of their work.

Once you have a shortlist, ask the following questions to ensure they are qualified:

• Are you licensed and insured?

• What experience do you have installing egress windows?

• Can you provide references from previous customers?

• Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors?

• What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule?

• How do you handle payment?

Yes, egress windows are grandfathered. However, this comes with some specifications. If you are remodeling a basement or adding a sleeping area, you’ll need to update the egress windows to be up to proper code. But, if you’re leaving your home as is, you do not have to adhere to these requirements.

New window installation costs range from $300 to $1,500 per window, depending on size, material, and energy efficiency features.
