Small jobs welcome

"Did a great job all around. Timely work. Had father and son working together and they worked quickly. Good quality work. Most reasonable price vs. 2 other plumbers I quoted, and were willing to try to find less expensive solutions to my plumbing projects."

"The actual bathroom is very nice. There were some issues with a crack in the grout, and the fact that we received a plastic toilet seat (this is a house, not a motel), for which the project manager has promised prompt remediation. The main issue is that workers were habitually late, or sometimes didn't even show up on days they were supposed to come. My wife and I both work and have to take time off to meet workers. On multiple occasions we have been stood up (still waiting for the grout and toilet seat to be fixed). Bottom line, figure out your salary for two weeks, then add that to the price of whatever job you're having done, because you will lose that much time."

Customers say: Quick response

"Steve is great! When my son noticed no hot water at 5:30p, I called Monster Plumbing. Steve said he'd get back into his work clothes and be right over. And he was! Very personable and knowledgeable. I first met him when he worked for Len's plumbing. He stayed in my mind because even then, he went above and beyond by offering to install my handheld bidet after fixing my broken pipe from my clumsy attempt to install it myself. No extra cost. Now as a sole proprietor, his fees are less than big companies. Very nice man! Obviously experienced in his field. I wouldn't call anyone else!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

You might be able to find your pipe leak by doing a visual inspection around your appliances and under your sink. Don’t forget to check your water heater too. If you find moisture or puddles of water, then you know you’re on the right track—you may need a repair or water heater replacement.

Knowing how to find a water leak can be tricky, but you can try the paper towel method. Lay paper towels on the floor and see where the moisture lands. You can also wrap toilet paper around pipes to locate a small leak.

You might need a permit to modify or repair any portion of your plumbing system, including drainage lines, depending on where you live. In some areas, simple replacements of existing drain lines don’t require a permit. We recommend asking your drain pipe installer or your local building department about permitting requirements. In many cases, only certified plumbers can pull plumbing permits, so you’ll usually need to leave the permit application to your professional. The fee for the permit will be passed to you on your project bill, though.

Walk-in tubs have multiple sealing mechanisms to prevent leaks. However, like any bathroom fixture, they can develop leaks over time due to wear, poor installation, or structural issues. Choosing a tub from a reputable manufacturer and ensuring proper installation by experienced professionals can minimize the likelihood of leaks. Additionally, regular inspections and addressing any problems promptly can help maintain the integrity of the walk-in tub and prevent potential problems.

A washing machine should drain the water used during its cycle through a drainpipe and out through the house’s plumbing. This is the same plumbing that sinks and shower drains run to, and if the U-bend is installed correctly, it shouldn’t smell. The total drainage from the house is then integrated into the city sewer system or, if you’re in the country, dispersed into a septic tank.
