We carry Master permits for all jurisdictions in which we work, and our employees have a 3rd party certification with NATE and carry Journeyman permits. We charge $79 for residential service which includes the trip and 1st half hour of the service call. For Angie's List members, we discount this rate to $49 and offer 10% off all parts needed. "Not Recommended for Thermostat Replacement — Unreasonable and Unfair $700 Charge I do not recommend Glenmont Air Conditioning & Heating for thermostat replacement work. I was charged $700 for a simple thermostat replacement, which I believe was unreasonably high and unfair. I was under the impression that the quoted estimate represented the maximum expected cost only if the technician had to perform additional wiring or complex installation work. If you want to install an Ecobee or any other type of thermostat, you can simply YouTube the installation, which provides step-by-step instructions on how to unwire, label, and rewire to the new thermostat. For my installation, I was under the impression that additional wiring might be needed, but it turned out to be a straightforward swap of the old thermostat with a new Ecobee unit, a process that took only about 15 minutes. Despite that, I was still charged the full amount. The Ecobee Premium thermostat itself costs around $250, meaning they charged nearly $500 just for labor, regardless of how simple or quick the installation is. To make matters worse, the installation only comes with a 30-day warranty, which hardly justifies such a high price. I tried to communicate and explain that this charge was unreasonably high and unfair, but they simply said, “It is what it is.” If you’re considering a thermostat installation, I strongly suggest hiring a professional through Thumbtack, where qualified experts can do the same job for under $150 with transparent pricing and good service. I expected fairness, honesty, and reasonable pricing from Glenmont, but unfortunately, that was not my experience."

This was a long and drawn out process due to the various approvals needed from Montgomery County as well as coordination with Washington Gas (which ended up not just being a simple sign off but necessitating an additional, expensive upgrade to the gas line from the street to our home). Nevertheless, GAC did a fantastic job shepherding this process over the 6+ months of waiting on stakeholders, and they were also maximally accommodating to our family’s significant constraints on time and availability (due to health concerns related to a medically fragile family member). A special kudos to Sandy M, GAC’s master electrician, who took it on personally to ensure we were taken care of all throughout this process, going above and beyond with phone calls, text messages, personal visits, etc. on behalf of my family, I want to thank GAC and am giving top marks across the board for this effort which was complex , lengthy, and ultimately successful."
