"Diaz and his crew were fantastic - we've hired them several times over the years because they are reliable and do a great job with an eye for details. We had new hardwood flooring and carpet installed in our home in addition to having the entire interior and exterior of the house repainted. They always leave the repair/renovation site very tidy. Would hire them again!"

"The owner Justin came to my house to give an estimate and he was easy to talk to. He was down to earth and I was able to ask every reasonable and unreasonable question I had. His office manager Jess answered all my questions through email courteously when I had them. The crews were quick, responsive, and careful in my home, especially around my curious dog. I asked for a very elaborate and difficult herringbone tile backsplash. The team handled its tediousness beautifully. The estimate was much lower than another company I had researched. I plan to use Adam contracting next year to replace my roof ... yes, they do that, too!"

"We chose VKB to do our complete gut master bathroom renovation and were so happy with their work in terms of reliability, craftsmanship, and customer service that we hired them to renovate our hall bathroom as well. For both bathrooms we worked with Calvin as our designer and Jason as our project manager, and both of them went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with the design, that the project ran smoothly and on time, and that the final product was exactly what we wanted. We wouldn't hesitate to use VKB again if we need any other work done on our home, and we have already begun recommending them to family and friends and will continue to do so. We are very pleased with our experience with VKB!"

"Adding and remodeling a house, while you are living in it can be stressful, that is why when it was time to add a new family room, garage and remodeling the kitchen, I interviewed several builders and requested multiple quotes. But when we met Jimmy Jimenez, owner and principal at MESCO, I felt immediate confidence that they will do the job right and for the right price. Although MESCO has an architect, we already had our blueprints. Jimmy’s team was the best I could have wish for, they went above and beyond, they follow the blueprints of the design and materials to the T. I called them the special forces of construction, they have a can-do attitude and were able to solve problems on the go, all with the highest quality in mind. We lived in the house while they were doing all this work, and they did it in only 7 weeks, which was almost nothing in comparison with other constructions in our neighborhood, MESCO was the fastest and certainly the BEST. Can't have enough words of praise and gratitude to Jimmy Jimenez and his team for an amazing job. After a couple of weeks, it felt like Uncle Jimmy was the one renovating our home, he took care of us like if we were family, his team went above and beyond what they were hired for. I highly recommend MESCO to anyone doing an addition, second floor or any renovation in their home."

"I will begin from the end-HIRE THEM! We have been using EnviroBuild’s services for the last 10 years, since purchasing our house. They serviced us in 4 different projects, in which the last one was after a tree fell on our house. They came and start assisting us even prior to the insurance providing approval by covering the roof and getting someone to clear the large tree debris. They negotiated with the insurance and made sure that we will receive ALL we need to be done to include permits and inspections. Once the work started it was quick, efficient, professional and with absolutely amazing results. We will definitely recommend them to anyone who is interested in a work to be done in their home."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

This answer varies based on where you are, but most states require that all homes are greater than 320 square feet. Remember that four walls are not the only requirements—windows, closet space, minimal ceiling heights, and indoor air quality are also factors. Each state and municipality differs, though, and as some don’t consider tiny homes permanent shelters, you’ll need to check to ensure you aren’t violating any local or state laws with your build.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

The maximum size of a tiny home you can move depends on your state transportation guidelines, but the rule of thumb is a maximum of 400 square feet. However, as long as it falls within the local limits for traveling on public roadways, you should be good to hit the road.

A 5x8 trailer can fit a queen-sized bed plus additional items. It is one of the most common sizes for enclosed cargo trailers, open utility trailers, and dump trailers. U-Haul, a national trailer rental company serving most U.S. markets, claims its 5x8 enclosed trailer can tow up to 1,800 pounds.
