"Was polite and professional but didn't have the tools needed to properly unclog my underground gutter drain which was clogged with roots. Tried a mechanical auger that he had but that was all he could do and only pulled thin roots which helped but didn't completely unclog the drain."

"Came promptly the first day I contacted them. Job was to clear a clogged laundry drain buried in slab floor between laundry room and kitchen two rooms away. The construction is old, not up to current code. The job required dismantling fixtures at both ends of line. They worked diligently, explained what they were doing (and current building practice), reassembled everything, and cleaned up thoroughly. They solved the problem! I would hire again, and I recommend."

"Patrick showed up on time. Put clean "booties" on his feet. I had a few issues, and didn't know how he was going to quote my issues: 1) clogged bathroom sinks, mysterious water on floor on lower level 2) water pressure. Cut to the chase. He suggested I use a product for the clog; found the water issue, (a/c condensation drain clogged, and need new faucet. He could have quoted 3 different and large sum amounts. he didn't. His integrity was paramount. He showed me everything he was looking at and doing. I was involved in the process understanding WHAT and WHY he did the things that needed to be done or did. The cost was reasonable and fair. HE IS MY PLUMBER!"

"The first time I worked with Joseph Plumbing & Drain Cleaning was a few months ago. I had a great experience that I called Kap immediately when I (once again) clogged the kitchen sink. He is professional, polite and prompt. Would definitely call him back should I need repairs again in the future."

"After 5 days and 10 plumbers, they were the only company to come out and help me. James C. is an awesome employee who knows his stuff! He spent hours clearing my drains and came back the next day to finish the job. I have the highest regard for him and the company. They will be my NEW plumbers."

"Water Field was awesome. This is an old house with many challenges along the way; in other words - this was not a simple hot water heater install. Even with all the challenges, the work was done professionally, and cleanly. I will certainly use Water Field again without hesitation. Quality work, at a very reasonable price!!"

Drain Cleaning FAQs, answered by experts

If you've discovered a rather frightening buildup of brown and black gunk below your shower cover, you're not alone. The smelly sludge is often a collection of mildew and biofilm. Biofilm comes from the breakdown of soap scum, hair, skin cells, and bacteria that collects during shower time. It's quite common in a humid space and relatively easy to clean with a gentle DIY cleaning solution such as baking soda and vinegar.

Flushing the toilet only to realize it’s clogged can cause anxiety. To avoid a clogged toilet, use less toilet paper. If you notice that the toilet is flushing and refilling slower than usual, you can use a plunger to clear clogs in the S-trap. If that doesn’t work, call a plumber to check your system and possibly clear the drain lines.

With a one-way cleanout, you can access your sewer line from one direction. Depending on the way it curves, a plumber can either access the side of the pipe that goes into your home or the side that goes to your yard. On the other hand, two-way cleanouts allow pros to access both sides of the sewer line, thanks to their dual-pipe design (they’re usually U-shaped).

Once you’ve poured the baking soda and vinegar into a drain, you should wait about 10 minutes for the mixture to break down the clog. If you try the baking soda and vinegar method and it doesn't work, you can do it again or try the baking soda and salt trick.

If you’re not using a septic system, problems with your home’s plumbing won’t cause this—it’s a city problem. A large blockage in the municipal sewage lines may cause those lines to back up into your home. This is extremely unpleasant and can be a serious health risk due to bacteria and other contaminants. If this occurs, call a pro (or your city) immediately.
