"Ed returned my call promptly. Set a time to meet with me at my home and he arrived on time. He evaluated the problem, did some trouble shooting and resolved the problem very quickly. He and his assistant worked well together and cleaned up after the work was completed. His charge was very reasonable. I will be using his services again in the near future. I highly recommend Edward P. Lackey Electric."

"I had Harland Electric come out and check out my electrical panel due to an issue where the electric dryer kept tripping the circuit breaker. (There was water near the breaker that I observed when it did this.) I had a few other minor things I wanted to have them check at the same time. The guys (Kevin and Derek) were great and knowledgeable and recommended I replace the panel due to the corrosion. I got an e-mail from Bill Harland who gave me information on what my options were and some estimates. I asked a bunch of questions and Bill was a great help in making a final decision. I felt he was honest about his recommendation as I debated doing a more expensive upgrade and Bill felt for my situation it would be overkill. I opted for a full replacement 100amp with the feed from the outside. (My house is very small and 100 amps has always been more than sufficient) Kevin and Mike showed up on time for the appointment and did an awesome job on the replacement. The work was high quality, neat and professional. The guys were also great around the young children (2 and 5), they very friendly and even my wife was comfortable (and that's impressive). They cleaned up completely and even took care of a couple of additional things that I had hoped (but didn't expect) they'd be able to get to. There were no surprises with the bill and within the estimate (even with the extra stuff). Judy in the office was also very nice and great with setting up schedules and dealing with the deposit. I will definitely use Harland again if I need electrical work done."

"I called Integrity Electrical after several outlets in the house failed, including the one for the refrigerator. Joe responded immediately, figured out the problem, and did a great job of explaining the work that needed to be done. Joe and Alex upgraded the house to 200 amp service, which involved replacing the electrical panel, upgrading outlets, and replacing a meter box that had water damage. I would not hesitate to call them again."

"Highly recommend. He installed our EV charger and also transfer switch so we can use our EV battery to power things in the house during power outage. Very knowledgeable in his field. Very easy to work with. Friendly and respectful. And extremely responsive to my inquiries (even off hours). Will definitely hire him again for other electrical needs. So glad to have found him."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Lexington, create a seasonal electrical inspection checklist tailored to local weather and home age. Each spring, inspect outdoor outlets, lighting, and wiring for winter damage. During summer, check air conditioning circuits and landscape lighting. In fall, focus on furnace wiring and generator readiness. Winter is ideal for monitoring overloaded circuits and condensation in panels. Homes built before 1960 may require extra attention to outdated wiring and grounding.

Helpful?

In Lexington, electrical projects may impact heating, plumbing, and smart home systems. Turning off the main panel can temporarily disable heating, sump pumps, or security systems, especially in older homes with interconnected wiring. If you live in a historic district or newer development, consult with professionals to safely manage unique or underground systems. Always ask your electrician how planned work might affect other essential home systems.

Helpful?

In Lexington, frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or burning smells are strong indicators of electrical issues needing professional attention. If you notice water near outlets or heating problems, both electrical and plumbing systems may be involved. For sudden power loss, contact your utility to rule out external causes. Given Lexington’s mix of older and newer homes, a licensed electrician can help diagnose overlapping system issues accurately.

Helpful?

In Lexington, urgent electrical repairs include burning odors, frequent breaker trips, or sparking outlets—address these right away for safety. Schedule high-priority upgrades like GFCI outlet repairs or panel updates before winter. Non-urgent projects, such as installing smart home features or extra outlets, can be planned for less busy seasons. Always factor in permit timelines and local contractor availability when prioritizing electrical work.

Helpful?

For a seamless electrical project in Lexington, start by confirming which permits are required and estimate approval times. Choose local electricians familiar with Massachusetts building codes and get several quotes. Coordinate with your utility provider if service interruptions are expected. Schedule work for spring or fall to avoid extreme weather, and notify neighbors if major upgrades could impact them. Source materials locally and anticipate code upgrades, especially in older homes.
