"Paul arrived on time, quickly identified a workable solution to my electrical need. He noted equipment and wiring I already had installed and used that knowledge to give me an estimate that was much less than previous estimates. He is very knowledgeable, got the job done quickly and I would heartily recommend him for any electrical work."

"New washer was causing circuit breakers to flip on my electrical panel. Mr. Handyman, who does my home repair and maintenance, referred me to McCurdy Electric emphasizing that they are the best in the business. Contacted McCurdy Electric and from that first phone call was in great hands. From Judy in the Office to Owner John who came out to meet and prepare estimate, professional and kind all the way. Logoed truck, always on time. Upgraded service to 100 AMP. Shebeeb and Brandon dug the trenches, ran the wires and quite honestly worked hard getting me back up with electricity before they left. McCurdy Electric even pulled the required permits and met with the City Inspector at my home. Just sat back with a book and let the professionals do their magic. Will not hesitate to contact them the next time I need electrical work done. Five Stars. --Charlene in West Peabody, MA"

"I hired Peter to replace an electrical panel in my aunt's condo. He responded immediately, was professional, knowledgeable and very accommodating with his schedule so I could get the job done while my aunt was hospitalized. His team of two young men were extremely polite and neat and cleaned up so well that you would never have known they worked there. I would highly recommend and hire PW DiMasi Electrical again. They went above and beyond my expectations."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For Boston homes, copper wiring is preferred for its durability in humid and variable weather. Use weather-resistant, THWN-2 rated wire for outdoor or basement installations, and ensure all outlets in kitchens and bathrooms have GFCI protection. Whole-house surge protectors are recommended for older homes. In historic neighborhoods, choose fixtures that match the home’s period style while using concealed wiring to maintain both safety and character.

Helpful?

In Boston, you’ll find residential electricians for home wiring and repairs, specialists in historic home electrical upgrades, smart home integration experts, commercial electricians for business properties, and contractors focused on solar installations. Many Boston electricians are experienced in working with the city’s older housing stock, ensuring safe updates that preserve architectural character while meeting modern energy efficiency standards.

Helpful?

Completing electrical projects in Boston provides immediate safety improvements, especially in older homes where outdated wiring is common. Upgrades support modern appliances, improve energy efficiency, and help prevent electrical fires. Over time, these improvements can lower insurance premiums, reduce unexpected repair needs, and make your home adaptable for future smart home technology as Boston continues to modernize its housing stock.

Helpful?

In Boston, electrical systems benefit from annual professional inspections to check panels, wiring, and outlets. Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors every six months, and monitor outdoor electrical equipment for weather-related wear, especially after winter storms. In coastal areas, watch for salt corrosion on exterior fixtures. For homes with mature trees, keep branches trimmed away from power lines to help prevent outages and damage.

Helpful?

Upgrading electrical systems in Boston often increases your home’s value and makes it more appealing to buyers, particularly in neighborhoods with historic homes. Features like new electrical panels, upgraded wiring, and energy-efficient lighting are attractive to buyers seeking move-in ready properties. In Boston’s active real estate market, homes with modern, reliable electrical systems and smart home upgrades stand out and attract more interest.
