"Ed returned my call promptly. Set a time to meet with me at my home and he arrived on time. He evaluated the problem, did some trouble shooting and resolved the problem very quickly. He and his assistant worked well together and cleaned up after the work was completed. His charge was very reasonable. I will be using his services again in the near future. I highly recommend Edward P. Lackey Electric."

"The Harland Electric team is extremely professional, courteous, and friendly. Jeremy and Jacob installed a chandelier on an 18ft foyer ceiling using a 15ft A-frame ladder and did so without marking up walls or floor. I have a laundry list of electric work to be doled out and Harland will be my first choice."

"Paul arrived on time, quickly identified a workable solution to my electrical need. He noted equipment and wiring I already had installed and used that knowledge to give me an estimate that was much less than previous estimates. He is very knowledgeable, got the job done quickly and I would heartily recommend him for any electrical work."

Small jobs welcome

"Highly recommend. He installed our EV charger and also transfer switch so we can use our EV battery to power things in the house during power outage. Very knowledgeable in his field. Very easy to work with. Friendly and respectful. And extremely responsive to my inquiries (even off hours). Will definitely hire him again for other electrical needs. So glad to have found him."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical projects in Burlington can impact interconnected systems like HVAC, especially if you’re installing heat pumps or upgrading to central air, which often need dedicated circuits. Security systems, internet wiring, and cable lines may also be affected during rewiring. If you rely on sump pumps or electric water heaters, ensure these remain on reliable circuits to prevent disruptions during any electrical upgrades or panel changes.

Helpful?

In Burlington, homes built before the 1970s may have knob-and-tube wiring or outdated panels, which often require a full electrical panel upgrade. Finished basements, plaster walls, and multi-level layouts can make rewiring more challenging. Features like added insulation, attached garages, or backyard pools may require specialized planning to meet local code and ensure safe installation of new circuits or outlets.

Helpful?

Electrical systems in Burlington benefit from annual inspections, especially in homes over 25 years old or those with recent home rewiring. Test GFCI outlets monthly and check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors seasonally. After harsh winters, inspect outdoor outlets and fixtures for weather damage. If you have a standby generator, schedule seasonal maintenance to ensure it’s ready for New England storms and power outages.

Helpful?

Upgrading electrical systems in Burlington improves safety, supports modern appliances, and prepares your home for storms with generator connections and surge protection. Enhanced efficiency can lower utility bills, while updated wiring enables smart home features and EV charging. These improvements boost property value and ensure reliable heating and cooling—important for comfort during Burlington’s variable weather and seasonal temperature changes.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Burlington, secure all required permits and schedule inspections early. Have a local electrician assess your electrical panel’s capacity and perform a load calculation, especially if planning an electrical panel upgrade. Coordinate with your utility provider for any service changes, call 811 before digging, and notify your insurance company of major upgrades. Booking contractors early helps avoid delays during busy seasons.
