"This company was worth every penny we spent. They were courteous, on time, professional and they offer a lifetime guarantee. We had one small issue and they were right back to fix it. They left absolutely no mess inside or outside. They put in a dehumidifier system, inside drains, new drain pit, sump pumps, coated and wrapped outside walls, moves drain spouts and added two dry wells.Excellent company. DJ Martinsville, In."

"The crews were extraordinarily polite, friendly, efficient, and very energetic. They ran into a lot of underground water when digging the trench for the buckled wall repair, but were able to put in the necessary reinforcements from inside the basement extending out to the trenched area. We live in an area with a lot of underground springs and artesian water, and when they began work the dirt under the foundation and crawl space was just wet mud, and water poured in at 36 inches deep as they created an outlet for the water to be safely drained away from the house. The basement is completely dry and we have a back up sump pump. My basement is surrounded by a crawl space since it was added after the house was built. The sump pumps and dehumidifier are warrantied for 5 years and the waterproofing has a lifetime warranty. Our house had problems because the basement was added after the house was built, but Indiana Foundation was able to make the house safe, and completely dry and usable. Since we live on a hillside, we will be adding a French drain behind the house and garage, far enough away to not further damage any of the foundations, but at the natural flow of the hillside where water collects to run down hill or underground. If we go at least 36 inches deep, it should help reduce some of the water that flows into the house area. This was some advice given by the supervisor at Indiana Foundation. They don't install French drains any longer, as they don't carry away all water and don't carry a guarantee, but in our situation it will probably help and is something I will be contracting out in the near future. The French drain is similar to what farmers install in fields to drain away excess water to a creek or deep ditch. It isn't something we have to do, but it will put a lot less strain on the sump pumps and other equipment, and in case of a long term power outage, would likely save our other appliances too (furnace, water heater, walls, etc.). I love the battery back up pump and it has already been in use twice when we had two separate power outages from storms. The workmen from Indiana Foundation were delightful to have in my home, running in and out with loads of materials, cheerfully hammering the walls and floors to install their system. Second: My electrician was able to repair a line running to our garage after the water problem was resolved. Water poured in over the connections in the basement without our realizing it, and no electricity was live in the back room of the garage. New basement, New Electric, New Plumbing - we are very happy with the results!"

"Great. We had a new sump pump installed a few weeks ago and the company who did it thought our exterior drain might be clogged, but they did not do this type of work. I called Plumbing, Heating Paramedics and was able to schedule a time a few days later. The service team member was friendly, professional, he wore a mask and booties. He was able to verify the drain was clear. Minor issues he did not get the cover on the drain in the lawn on all the way and he did leave a booties on the porch, but just small oversights."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Started researching providers on Angie's List mid Feb. 2016. Contacted CD & Son Concrete and scheduled an estimate the same week for March 12, 2016.  Most of my follow up questions were placed through the Angie's list messaging portal and were quickly answered by CD & Son's office.  Phone calls were quickly returned as well, so this business scores very high in maintaining communications.  I felt the written proposal was quite reasonable based on other Angie's List reviews as well as concrete industry info on the 'net.  After meeting Dean, I got the feeling he is a man of his word, and so far he hasn't disappointed.

I asked for and received a list of driveway replacements Dean has done in my area, as well as proof of insurance with contact information. Everything checked out and I signed and returned the proposal on April 18, 2016.  With the seemingly endless Spring rains, it was impossible to piece together 3 dry days in a row so the work wasn't started until June 7.  It was a Tues. afternoon that demo of the existing sidewalk and driveway began.  The driveway demo was more challenging than expected as the 40 year old concrete was 10 to 12 inches thick so it took until dusk to get the first half of the drive removed.  Work continued Wed. morning to set the forms for that area and concrete was poured in the afternoon followed by application of the curing and sealing agent.  Soon after, demo was started on the bottom half of the drive and continued again until dusk.  Thurs. morning, demo was completed, that portion of the drive was formed and poured, and finished with a cure/seal application, while the sidewalk forms were installed.  Fri. morning, the sidewalk was poured, tooled, and pressure washed for the exposed aggregate finish, after which everyone packed up and moved offsite until Chris returned around dusk to apply the final seal coats to the walk.

The crew consisted of Dean, his son Chris, and one recently graduated young man who provided support where needed.  All contribute and help each other to keep things moving forward.  It's quickly evident that they work well together and even enjoy their work.  At the end of each day they organized their tools for the next day and gathered any trash they may have accumulated.  At the completion, they even cleaned the street where their equipment had tracked out small amounts of dirt/gravel debris during the process.  During those 4 days I saw commitment to family, to the job at hand, to each other, and even met Dean's wife one evening as they stopped by to pick up some equipment.  And as an ex-smoker, I was impressed that I never saw any of these guys light up - no cig butts in the yard or bad examples for my grandkids or neighbor's children.

Though I have never before had an opportunity to scrutinize a freshly poured driveway and/or sidewalk, I have received plenty of positive feedback from neighbors as they pass by on their daily walks.  There has been lots of interest and I've been asked by several to pass along their contact info to Dean.  Seems it has been a good experience for myself as well as the folks at CD & Son Concrete.  I would absolutely use them again."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Pooling or standing water in your basement should be cause for alarm and action. This indicates that there is a leak or a drainage issue, and until you repair the root of the problem, the situation will only happen again or grow in severity. It’s important to deal with water damage as soon as it occurs.

Yes, it is generally unhealthy and can be dangerous to live in a damp basement. The damp air can negatively affect your breathing and lungs, and the moisture promotes mold growth and pest infestations. Inhaling mold spores or waste particles from insects and rodents attracted to the moisture can be hazardous. This damp, moldy air can also circulate into your main living area. It is crucial to resolve any moisture problems and implement preventative measures before using your basement as a living space.

French drains and yard grading systems are two highly effective ways to fix standing water around the foundation. Since the French drain uses a perforated pipe covered by gravel, you won’t have to worry about water taking the soil away from your foundation. Meanwhile, yard grading levels out the ground to prevent water from gathering around your foundation.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

Signs include persistent dampness, mold or mildew presence, musty odors, and visible water stains. If any of these occur, it is advisable to contact a professional for an inspection.
