"Went well. Had purchased the $249 Painter for a Day. Jeff gave his opinion when asked and was very pleasant to work with. He was very careful on painting smooth edges. The job couldn't be finished in one day so he came back for another morning of painting which cost another $100."

"They did a great job on the exterior paint job and powerwash of the siding. Answered any questions we had, and made sure we were happy with how the job was progressing."

"We were very pleased with the job Robert and Patrick did with our interior painting. They started when scheduled, were on time every day, cleaned up before they left, were very professional, and did a great job with the painting. We would definitely use them again."

"Rickleff Painting recently painted our kitchen, family room, entryway, stairway and upstairs hall. Also ceilings and trim in all the areas. The painters were very professional and stayed on task. The project took several days and they arrived and departed on time each day. We were so pleased with the results especially with the repaired ceiling tape in family room that had needed fixing for 20 years. Love the refreshed clean look of our home."

Customers say: Super punctual

"The 3 painters did an outstanding job painting about 2/3 of our 2,500 square foot home. It took about 2 weeks and we trusted them to enter our house while we were at work. They did a lot of preparation work by sanding, caulking, and some trim work. My wife and I were very pleased with their work, regular updates on progress, and flexibility by adding an extra staining job during their time here. I highly recommend this company and would easily hire them again."

Painting questions, answered by experts

You can use latex or acrylic paint outdoors. Although acrylic paint tends to last longer outside, it also costs more, so if you’re painting the outside of your house, for instance, latex paint is often a go-to option. However, acrylic will be your best choice if you want to spend some extra money for added durability.

While the answer varies based on weather, 10 a.m. is a good time to start painting. The dew will have dried, meaning there’s no moisture on the house, and the temperature will likely be moderate and the sunlight less direct. Starting mid-morning should also give you enough daylight and pleasant weather to work on the job for several hours.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

Oxygen bleach uses hydrogen peroxide as a base and won’t harm wood when using it as a cleaner. On the other hand, chlorine bleach breaks down wood at the cellular level and causes irreversible harm. Although you may not see immediate damage to wood after exposing it to chlorine bleach, its strength and integrity are now compromised.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.
