"Great! They were able to repair the damper instead of replacing it with a much more expensive fix. They did not charge me for the repair in case it isn't a "permanent" fix. I appreciated them working for a less expensive repair."

"He cam in for the quote and was out in about 15 minutes with the exact quote and the amount of time it would take him to finish the project. When it came time to do the repair his estimate proved to be spot on including a quality check and clean-up. Now it looks like my walls never had any work done to them at all. I am extremely satisfied with the price, quality of work done, and the friendliness of L&C Drywall and will recommend to everyone."

"Nathan came to my in-laws home to see the damage and give an estimate to fix the ceiling damage. He made a quick assessment and we set 2 appointment times to fix the drywall and paint the ceiling within a week and a half of the estimate. At the end of the second day, the ceiling looked like there had never been any damage. Nathan did a fantastic job. My in- laws couldn’t be happier. In fact they have already had Nathan back to do more work!"

"I am in the process of renovating a home built in 1964. First area of work was the lower level. Rickleff Sons and Daughter Painting completed the interior painting. The work included, preparing, priming and painting sheetrock (walls and ceiling), a brick wall (from red to white/grey), unpainted older wood doors (5 that look like new), and paneling (below chair rail, changing from colonial to contemporary). The level of detail on preparing the doors and paneling, which needed repairs, was perfect. The space looks beautiful, totally transformed. Highly recommend Rickleff..."

Customers say: True professional

"This company was responsive and quick to come by for a quote. The gentleman doing the job was quick and efficient. I had a couple walls skimmed with drywall mud. He was asked to patch a hole but evidently that was not communicated. The walls look fine. He was neat and respected my home. Everything was clean when he left."

"Great job! Tracy removed lots of old wallpaper paste, patched several areas of the drywall, and painted. The finished walls were very smooth and looked like new. He is very knowledgeable and explained what was needed. He is very professional and showed up when scheduled. He kept a clean work area. I would definitely recommend him to others."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Small retaining walls still require a foundation of some kind, typically a concrete footing. This helps to ensure the wall is structurally sound and prevents the ground from shifting over time, especially during those winter freeze/thaw cycles. The footing helps spread the weight of the wall and the load it carries over a larger area of the ground, thus assisting with stability. This is true of small retaining walls, larger rock garden walls, and the like.

Through proper drainage solutions and compacting the foundation soil.

Sand and gravel are two suitable options for filling behind a retaining wall. If you’re building your own retaining wall, you’ll complete this part of the process—known as backfilling—after you finish laying the blocks. Make sure not to skip it—otherwise, you could wind up with drainage issues, which can cause your retaining wall to collapse.

The longevity of flood walls depends on how they were constructed, but most wood, gravel, and cement flood walls last 10 years. While aluminum flood walls may cost far more initially, they can be a good investment as they can last decades and will not be damaged by exposure to the elements.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.
