"Excellent experience overall. Workers arrived right on time. Work was done as requested. They planned and executed a fairly complicated takedown of a dead cherry wood tree that had cracked at the base and fallen against our house, without the tree causing any further damage. In addition, not only did they clear major oak tree branches from our second story roof, they also blew the debris off the roof, saving us from having to do that later (at some risk to our safety). All the rest of the trimming in the front and back yards was done to our satisfaction. We did ask that they not take away the wood and trimmed branches, so they didn’t have to deal with that. But they made sure to cut the wood into manageable sizes so that we could transport it to where we needed without too much effort. The guys were very knowledgeable and friendly as well. The cost overall was quite reasonable imo because of the level of complexity involved. They also knew about the health of the trees, not just how to trim them. They helped us identify a carpenter ant issue, and provided corrective care for it. Overall, I would definitely utilize Growing Solutions for any additional tree trimming or health work that we need going forward."

"We have used this service twice now, and have been pleased with their work and professionalism both times. We had one huge dead tree taken down in the back, and two Maples in front trimmed and dead removed. I’m pretty fussy about my plants, landscaping and not having things stepped on or disrupted, and they take the utmost care. BEARCO was recommended to us, and I would happily recommend them. If I need future tree services, they will be my first and only call."

"David Carter did a great job for me. He was prompt and kept me informed of how he planned on completing each task. He removed my fence and removed a very large stump in just 1 1/2 day. I would recommend his service to all!"

"I hired this company to cut back bushes taking over my yard. Not aesthetically attractive but looks tight and much better than before. Did the work quickly and cleaned up all the debris. I recommend this company."

"These guys stayed busy cutting trimming, removing and cleaning for the entire time. They left for lunch, came back and finished the job. Excellent job! I recommend Jonathan Quintana for all tree removal and trimming services. I will call him back to do the back yard where I have 5 more trees in the not too distant future."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, carefully prune back dead branches—don’t wait for pruning season. This helps keep your maple tree healthy and also helps prevent large branches from falling unexpectedly. Don’t seal the cut branch—trees can naturally take care of these wounds—but be sure to remove any source of fungus or pest infestation to help save the tree.

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

If a tree isn’t pruned, it can inhibit proper growth and fruit production, cause damage to both the tree and your property, and create entry points for pests and diseases. Pruning a tree enhances its stability, appearance, shape, and growth. Pruning trees regularly can also save you money long-term by avoiding overgrown or dangerous dying trees.

Only trim palm trees as needed, which is usually about once per year. However, don't stick to that schedule if the palm tree doesn't need it. Avoid trimming palm trees when possible. It’s best to trim palm trees only when you notice a buildup of dead fronds. That said, leave the brown fronds during the dormant season because this organic matter helps protect the tree from the cooler weather.
