"Andrey did a great job fixing the seal on my toilet and also showed me some things that my contractor did wrong in our rehab which was very helpful. He was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable and left the bathroom spotless."

"The 2 plumbers who came were great and the projects were completed to my satisfaction. My one concern was cost. The one guy adjusted the flushing mechanism and replaced the flap in the tank of the toilet. The other replaced a gas valve behind a range. They were here for just about 1 hour. With minimal parts required and only 1 hour work, I felt the $500 charge was a bit excessive. Having had other work J&S completed over the past few years that I thought was more fairly priced, I am willing to try again, but some consideration should be given to the length of time it takes to complete a project rather than just going with the list price for a project."

"Joe was meticulous and persistent to do the job right. He doesn’t cut any corners, he tested his work throughout. Much better than many other contractors we’ve hired. We gave him 3 more projects because he cares for the quality of his work and excelled in them all. He replaced 4 faucets and pipes, he also fixed 3 toilets. Great jobs"

Customers say: True professional

"Came to figure out what was wrong with an old toilet that wasn't flushing.
I was sure it wasn't clogged.
Charlie ended up replacing the toilet. He took care of the whole thing,
from diagnosing the issue to getting the replacement toilet and
installation. Very professional and great to work with! Absolutely
recommended!

"Daniel was very prompt-he was a little early. He did a very thorough job explaining what needed to be done. He was very polite, friendly, and informative. The price was very reasonable. The clogged drain in the bathroom sink was cleared very quickly and he found a simple solution to an additional problem with water pressure in the kitchen faucet. I would call them again and highly recommend J&D Plumbing."

"Toilet was leaking from tank bolt. Plumber Chris tightened and also checked the other two toilet tank bolts, and while he was at it also corrected the water level in the tanks which was great and I'm glad he did that to avoid future toilet issues. Would hire again!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

One of the many benefits of a pressure-assist toilet is how long it lasts. You can expect a well-maintained one to last up to 30 years. That's five years longer than a standard gravity-fed toilet, so it can be a worthwhile investment if you’re willing to spend more on your toilet installation.

You can tell if your toilet fill valve is full by removing the lid and taking a look. When you flush the toilet, the float is at the bottom of the tank, the water empties, and the fill valve opens. The float rises to the top as the tank fills again with water. When the float rises to the right level, the fill valve closes; if the valve is too high, your toilet may only partially flush, requiring you to adjust the float.

DIY is possible for minor repairs or replacements. Professional services ensure proper installation and leak prevention.

If you know the job is going to be extensive (and you don’t like surprises), hiring a Roto-Rooter specialist may make sense for you. You’ll know how much you’re going to pay right away.

That said, hiring the best plumber isn’t solely about price. If you've worked with a plumber you trust before or have a list of plumbing services you need tackled at your home, working with a plumber might be a better choice for you.

Yes, you can have a toilet without a septic tank. However, it will have to be a composting toilet. Composting toilets work similarly to aerobic septic systems in that the waste, which sits in a separate compartment below the toilet itself, is slowly broken down by aerobic bacteria. These toilets typically have a vent to get rid of harmful gasses with a fan, which requires a battery. You will have to dispose of waste in the toilet manually every three weeks to every three months, depending on how many people are using the toilet.
