"Danny and his staff at Modern Quality Flooring have delivered quality craftsmanship multiple times while working on floors in our home. They are always quick to deliver estimates, give reliable timelines, arrive early to complete their job, and do beautiful work. They have installed wood flooring throughout entire floors in our house, patched, sanded and stained existing hardwood, and are planning to install laminate flooring in our basement next. We trust them to guide us in all future flooring endeavors."

Customers say: Quick response

"Alex and Mario took on a very complicated rebuild of my floors and subfloors due to extensive water damage. The results are exceptional! I will have them back shortly to perform sanding, stain and sealing to the upstairs wood flooring to match to finish the special touches they provide - Thank you from the bottom of my heart"

"The job was done to its perfection. My cherry wood flooring is more difficult than normal to refinish but Mike and his buddy made it look brand new and the whole project was communicated clearly and Mike also provide followup calls to make sure things are good after the project is done. Definitely recommend for any kind of flooring projects!"

"Salesman (Mike) was prompt, pleasant, patient, and courteous,  Felt that the pricing was somewhat arbitrary and on
the higher end of estimates, but probably fair  enough.  We are happy with color, look, and feel of carpet, but there seemed to be a lot of loose fibers, even a month after installation;   these were only temporary, but now not sure what to do with the fibers that are only partly out (should I trim them with a scissors?).
The installers were also prompt, pleasant, patient and courteous, and seemed to do a decent job both installing and cleaning
up.  However, with the newer carpet and higher pile, our upstairs bathroom door, off the hallway, would not close.  I did not realize this until several days later, when my daughter brought it to my attention;  by that time the transition piece was already bent and damaged from her trying to close the door.  I removed the transition piece, but the carpet was still too plush to close the door and trying to do so would only remove more of those loose fibers. I did receive a call the day after installation asking if we were satisfied with the job, but that was before I was aware of the bathroom door not being able to be closed.  So, I called them and was offered door shaving services for an additional $45.00.  Which I took advantage of, since you have to be able to close a bathroom door, right?
I suppose this type of problem is to be expected, but this was the first time we were buying carpet in 20yrs and so it did not
occur to us;  however, I would think the installers (who do this routinely) would have anticipated or discovered the problem
at the time of installation.  I felt having to schedule another day for the door service and paying another charge was not really fair.  This was a problem, along with the loose fibers, that leave me less than completely satisfied and therefore, not able to recommend this company.  I do have to give them credit though for taking care of a couple of squeaky
floor boards at no extra cost.

UPDATED 7/21/13:  Company called to admit over sight on their part, and sent a check to cover the shaving of door.
Their follow up and professionalism has restored my faith in them and can now recommend their services.  Carpet
manufacturer called, at company's suggestion, and gave me tips on carpet care, which I also appreciated.

"

We have used Exposition Carpet for several carpet installations over many years in our finished basement, and have consistently found the best pricing, ease of schedule and quality installation thru them. I especially like that it's a family business and you are dealing directly with owners and not with a salesman that doesn't even know who his/her boss is. The installers have worked their for years and that says a lot.

After going through a back porch remodel enclosing to a mudroom, we wanted a pet friendly, water resistant and durable floor so we went with vinyl plank. The store had many options, and time frame to get material was within a week. We checked out a 'sale' prior at a trendy well known Lincoln Avenue store, only to be met with double the cost and attitude. So we ended up back at Exposition and it was a done deal within 2 weeks.

I thought I had reviewed them on AL, but realized I hadn't when the list asked if members had any feedback.

We wouldn't hesitate to use them for any flooring needs.

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

There are many different types of carpets for you to choose from. When choosing a carpet, it’s essential to consider the following:

  • Fiber: Describes what your carpet is made of, such as polyester, wool, nylon, or acrylic.

  • Pile type: Explains how your carpet looks. Your carpet fibers can be looped, twisted, cut, or woven.

  • Pile height: Describes the length of your carpet. You can choose a low, medium, or high pile.

  • Density: Refers to how close yarn fibers are to each other.

It depends on what’s important to you. For instance, if you’re looking for the lowest-priced carpet material, consider polyester. Alternatively, you could go with olefin (also known as polypropylene), another synthetic carpet material that costs about the same as polyester. Otherwise, if durability is the priority, nylon or wool would be a better choice.

Not sure what you need? A local carpet installer can explain the difference between various carpet types and help you decide what’s best for your home.

In most cases, you do not need to put padding or underlayment under carpet tiles. Unlike traditional carpet, which requires a separate pad, carpet tiles are designed to be installed directly onto a firm subfloor like plywood, concrete, or tile. Many carpet tiles come with a built-in underlay and attach with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or glue. For a more comfortable, cushioned feel, especially in residential settings, you can opt for padded carpet tiles that have a thicker underlay attached. While it's generally not recommended to install a separate pad, a compact underlayment might be used in some situations, though this typically requires professional installation. An acoustic underlay may also be considered in commercial spaces or multi-level homes where noise reduction is a priority.

Vinyl floors last between 10 and 25 years on average when you care for them and protect them against water damage, though higher-quality vinyl can last longer.

If your vinyl flooring has heavy wear and tear or if it's peeling, it's a good time to do a reinstallation. Other signs your flooring is nearing the end of its lifespan include bubbling, heat-damaged planks or tiles, and discoloration.

Sheet vinyl is among the most affordable and durable flooring options, with prices as low as $0.50 per square foot and a lifespan of 10 to 20 years. Other inexpensive and durable choices include standard vinyl plank ($2 to $7 per square foot), which mimics wood or stone and is great for high-traffic areas. Laminate flooring ($1 to $6 per square foot), linoleum, carpeting, and concrete can also be cost-effective options, with prices starting around $2 per square foot.
