"All went extremely well! The fence looks great ?. Ken’s company did a good job in a very good timing! The prices were very reasonable! Just today I gave Ken’s card to a neighbor down the street that was asking about the new fence!"

"Extremely efficeint and do a terrific job. Called for a bid and I accepted it on the spot. They came out as scheduled, on time, and with a crew that was really good at everything they did, Cleaned up all my planted areas and installed new fencing around my patio. This crew is not afraid to work, and are open to any changes you might have to make. Thank you Erika, and the GANG for such great service."

"Troy was very quick to respond and get my estimate done. He was friendly, efficient, honest and respectful. He listened carefully to what I wanted done and then explained to me what he would do, how and why. Once we agreed on the scope and cost of the project and put our signatures on it, he got the job done very quickly. We had a walk thru after the work was done and I was satisfied with all that he had done! He even saved me money!! I would recommend him to anyone needing fence replacement or repair. Julie Bartunek"

"Tom and Josh Turney did an amazing job for us! They removed our old cedar fence and replaced it with a beautiful new cedar fence with solid, and sturdy black steel fence posts. This fence will not only last much longer than our old fence with wooden posts but it is a beauty to look at. We will be enjoying our backyard for many years to come."

"I checked out other fence repair companies before calling Don Oâ Connor. Hands down, Don made the decision easy. He was prompt, gave a detailed/competitive estimate and his crew followed his lead. The fence replacement was completed as scheduled and with no issues. I highly recommend Don Oâ Connor for any type of fence repair work."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

When deciding between fence post foam and concrete, the best choice depends on your specific needs and priorities. Concrete is generally considered stronger and more durable, making it the preferred option for heavy, load-bearing posts. However, expanding foam offers several advantages, such as being more eco-friendly and curing much faster. For smaller fences or those made with lighter materials like vinyl or wire mesh, post foam is a good alternative. While concrete is more affordable, it is also harder to work with and has a longer curing time.

When considering how much of a gap should be under a fence or gate, a good rule of thumb is to keep gaps between 2 and 5 inches tall. This allows for some ground clearance for the gate but still provides safety for children and pets, who shouldn’t be able to squeeze through a gap of that size.

Typically, a fence requires one to two coats of stain. The exact number can vary depending on the porosity of the wood. For specific guidance, it's best to check the manufacturer's instructions. After applying the first coat and letting it dry completely, you can assess the finish. If it appears patchy, uneven, or you want a more saturated color, a second coat is recommended. An extra coat can also help cover lap marks.

Yes, a double fence can keep deer out of your yard by using the deer’s limited depth perception. For example, a 6-foot tall fence with another 4-foot fence a couple feet from the outer fence makes it look more difficult and unsafe for the deer to jump and land safely. You can even mimic the look of a double fence by using wire or a clothesline.

There are several options for post materials. Depending on where you live, the weather, and what kind of durability you want, you can choose from wood, steel or concrete posts for a barbed wire fence. Your corner and end posts should be especially strong in order to maintain the structural integrity of the fence.
