"The team at Idaho Landscape Creations moved sprinklers, added a drip line, built a berm, and picked up and planted trees in my backyard. David had a quote to me on the same day I inquired about the project and was available to answer questions. The work was done significantly faster than anticipated and the whole crew was friendly and easy to work with. 12/10!"

"Forest Landscaping was great to work with. Erika was very helpful and knowledgeable. What I really appreciate was the fact that they started the job when promised, they cleaned the job site each day, they showed up each day at the scheduled time and finished when promised. They are very professional. We are happy with the landscape and jobs they completed in our back yard."

Small jobs welcome

"This is the first time my 45 year old sprinkler system needed real service. He even found two heads that were buried for years! Alfredo could have said I needed a new system. Instead, he worked on 20 heads and the selenoids in the back yard for seven hours. The water pressure is back; the heads raise up high and straight. My water system is as it was 30 years ago w/o purchasing a new system! I'd recommend Alfredo. He's trust worthy and worth every penny."

"Modern Landscape and Design spent time during our initial meeting to look at our yards and then offer suggestions. We received links to view numerous previous projects and pictures of a variety of trees, shrubs, and flowers. In their next visit, Modern Landscape brought a couple of suggested designs. Once we decided upon the plants and design, they scheduled an appointment to commence the project. It was finished in a timely manner, and it looked great. Modern Landscape did follow up with a phone call and email to answer any questions or had any concerns. We also received a handout on how to maintain our new landscaping. We also had curbing added around our trees. Excellent work. I highly recommend Modern Landscape and Design."

Customers say: Quick response

"Very friendly, resourceful and professional. They took on a job that I would not have wanted to do myself even if I had the skills and did it well in spite of a lot of obstacles presented by earlier workmanship problems in the Deck's construction. I will use them again when we upgrade our landscaping and front porch area in our next endeavor."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Most bamboo can send roots down two to three feet into the ground. However, when stopping bamboo from spreading, the focus is on the runner roots or rhizomes. These roots are much shallower, staying 12 inches or less from the surface, so they’re easier to find and remove. But if you want to remove the bamboo entirely, you’ll have to dig out the full root system.

In most cases, buying plants from a local greenhouse or nursery is well worth the investment, even though they tend to be a bit more expensive than those at a home improvement store. Employees at nurseries are usually well-versed in gardening and understand how the climate in your area affects different plants. They can help you make selections based on your skill level and time commitment to your landscaping, and they can provide detailed care instructions and advice to help keep your plants alive and diagnose and treat issues like pest infestation and illness.

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

Common features in lakefront landscaping projects include native and water-tolerant plants, stone paths, docks or piers, seating areas, and erosion control solutions to create a harmonious integration with the waterfront setting.

As much as you might try to keep a healthy, nutrient-rich lawn, you still may notice signs of St. Augustine decline (SAD)—a viral disease that discolors your grass blades. St. Augustine decline looks like:

  • Discoloration in the leaves (chlorosis)—leaves appear yellow and splotchy

  • Decline in growth

  • Leaves turn black within 3 years

  • Grass appears less vibrant

  • Grass begins to thin

  • Root rot

  • Grass takes longer to recover
