"Resurfaced a shower. It looks fantastic! Company could do a better job with communication. We moved everything from the shower, but didn't know that the coating would go everywhere in our bathroom. Door knobs now have a film on them as well as other surfaces in the bathroom. I would have taken everything out of the bathroom had I known. The service man did not communicate what would be happening, such as going through our bedroom to open a window to put a large exhaust pipe out the window. I am not upset, but communication could have been much better."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Upgrading plumbing in Macon can significantly enhance your home’s value and buyer interest, especially with modern fixtures, updated main lines, or water filtration systems to address hard water. Replacing aging sewer lines is particularly appealing in older neighborhoods. Ensuring all work meets local codes and is performed by licensed professionals helps protect your investment and provides peace of mind to potential buyers.

Helpful?

After plumbing work in Macon, monitor all new connections and fixtures for leaks over the next two days, especially in areas with clay soil that can shift pipes. Update your home maintenance log with details of the work and warranty information. If a permit was required, arrange for the final inspection. Photograph completed work for future reference, and remember to insulate outdoor pipes before winter to prevent freezing.

Helpful?

For Macon homeowners, it’s wise to keep a pipe wrench, adjustable wrench, cup and flange plungers, and a hand auger for drain clogs. Stock Teflon tape, pipe thread sealant, assorted washers, and PVC couplings. Because Macon’s hard water can cause mineral buildup, have a water heater element and descaler available. A shut-off valve key and pipe repair clamp are also helpful for quick emergency fixes.

Helpful?

In Macon, plumbing updates can influence water pressure and may impact your water heater’s performance, especially if you’re adding new fixtures. Installing appliances like dishwashers or sump pumps could require electrical adjustments. If walls are opened for repairs, check for possible HVAC or insulation issues. Macon’s shifting soil can also affect foundation stability, so monitor for any new cracks or settling after major plumbing work.

Helpful?

In Macon, you’ll find residential and commercial plumbing contractors, as well as specialists for drain cleaning, sewer line repair, and water heater installation. Some focus on septic systems or well pumps, which are common in rural parts of the area. Many local contractors offer trenchless pipe repair and tankless water heater services, and all reputable providers are licensed, insured, and familiar with Macon’s unique soil and water conditions.
