"Absolutely excellent. After trying to contact four other companies that either had full voicemail boxes (30) would never get back to me, I luckily came across Electrical Fixers. Could not be more pleased! From the office staff to the electrician who did the work (Chris) they were extremely prompt and professional. Would give 6 stars if I could. I have experience as a residential electrician (years ago) so I can truly appreciate Electrical Fixers."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Macon’s hot, humid summers and frequent thunderstorms can accelerate corrosion and increase the risk of power surges. High humidity may cause outlets and wiring to deteriorate faster, while storms can lead to outages or electrical damage. It’s best to schedule major electrical work during cooler, drier months and to reinforce outdoor outlets and panels before storm season for added protection and reliability.

Helpful?

In Macon, electrical maintenance should include scheduling annual inspections, especially for homes over 20 years old. Test GFCI outlets monthly due to high humidity, and check outdoor lighting and outlets each season for moisture or pest intrusion. Inspect your electrical panel for rust or loose wires every six months. After severe weather, look for storm-related damage to wiring and connections to help prevent outages and ensure safety.

Helpful?

After electrical work in Macon, test all new installations, including GFCI and AFCI devices, to confirm proper function. Update your electrical panel labels and keep photos or notes for future reference. Monitor for any unusual sounds or flickering lights over the next month. Before storm season, check that outdoor outlets are weatherproofed and clear away debris to maintain the safety and performance of your electrical upgrades.

Helpful?

In Macon, you can safely change light bulbs, tighten loose outlet covers, and reset tripped breakers or GFCI outlets. Always turn off the power at the breaker, use dry hands, and avoid working near water or during storms. If you notice flickering lights, burning smells, or exposed wires, contact a licensed electrician immediately to avoid electrical hazards and keep your home protected.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Macon should start with a professional assessment of the electrical panel, especially if the home is older. Install GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas to address humidity risks. Consider adding surge protection to safeguard electronics from frequent storms, upgrade outdoor lighting for safety, and switch to energy-efficient LED bulbs or smart thermostats to help manage cooling costs and improve comfort.
