"The new outlet is great. They were very nice and knowledgeable with the installation. However, the ceiling fan/light repair didn’t go as well. I thought he would replace the part that was getting hot. He only removed the damaged bulb and put a new bulb in. It was smelling of burning the next day and I have not used the light since."

"It all went perfectly. Allen is very talented in doing tile work for me. A perfectionist! Allen exceeded my expectations of the finished product. He showed up when he said he would and worked very hard and long days to complete my gorgeous. Yes I would hire him again. He does other things as kitchen and bath remodeling. "I called 7/3 Tues. morning and he was out that afternoon. The freezer stopped freezing food.   The refrigerator was no longer under warranty (3 years old). The repairman pulled out the refigerator and knew what he was looking for. It was a broken fan (plastic).  He had the replacement part on his truck (metal and much better quality).  With in hour everything was back to normal.  The repairman knew what he was doing."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

You should generally avoid using WD-40 on a ceiling fan. While it might quiet a squeak temporarily, it is primarily an anti-corrosion and water displacement agent, not a true lubricant, and can damage the fan's components over time. Most modern ceiling fans have sealed bearings and do not require oiling, so a squeak may indicate another issue. For fans that do require lubrication, it is better to use a light machine oil, 30-weight motor oil, or a lubricant specifically designed for ceiling fans.

A ceiling fan can become unbalanced for several reasons. Common causes include an accumulation of dust and dirt on the blades, which adds uneven weight. Over time, hardware like screws and fasteners can loosen due to wear on the blade holders. Other potential issues are damaged or bent blades or blade arms, worn-down parts, or an incorrect initial installation.

It is unlikely that a ceiling fan will fall, even if it develops a wobble. During a proper installation, ceiling fans are securely bolted to a ceiling joist, and the fasteners used for mounting are generally separate from the components related to balancing. A wobble is typically caused by an imbalance, which can be annoying and may lead to other issues, but is not usually dangerous on its own.

However, if a fan is wobbling because it was not installed correctly, it could be at risk of falling. For safety, it's always a good idea to ensure all mounting screws are tight and to address any wobbling or imbalance issues promptly.

While wood stove fans are effective for improving heat distribution, they rely on the stove reaching a certain temperature to operate efficiently. If the stove does not generate enough heat, the fan may not start or may not move air effectively. Additionally, like any fan, wood stove fans cannot cool a stove or reduce its heat output—they only redistribute existing warmth.

Depending on the thickness of the carpet, it can take anywhere from 4 to 12 hours for carpet to dry with a fan. The humidity and temperature of the room also play a role in drying time, as added moisture in the air can result in longer drying time.
