"I heard what I thought were squirrels in my attic. Turned out to be rats because we saw them as Lindsey was wrapping up for the day. As it was getting dark these creatures wanted to get back into my house. So disgusting. Lindsey worked really hard closing up their entry hole which is a problem area. This spot would be hard for a child to get to. Her tenacity is commendable. She also fixed some shingles on my roof that were left in a pile. Can't say enough about her!"

Since 2003, Plant It Earth has provided Central Florida and the Suncoast community with reliable, high-quality lawn care and pest control services. We know that maintaining a healthy yard in Sarasota’s unique coastal climate—with its sandy soil, intense heat, and sudden rain—takes more than a generic off-the-shelf treatment. That’s why we deliver customized solutions engineered specifically for local turf, palms, and seasonal pest pressures.

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Rabbits face a range of formidable adversaries in rural and suburban areas. Natural predators such as hawks, foxes, bobcats, raccoons, coyotes, and weasels pose significant threats to their survival. These skilled hunters target bunnies for food, contributing to regulating rabbit populations. Outdoor housepets can be enemies, too, particularly dogs and cats. And loud little humans playing in your yard make great rabbit deterrents, too.

Treating a property for ticks costs between $50 and $150 on average. This preventative measure may be necessary if you live in an area with high tick presence or suspect a tick infestation on your property. Prices will vary based on your landscape, the size of the treatment area, and the severity of the infestation.

Termites are most active and cause the most damage in the spring and summer, when warm temperatures and increased moisture accelerate their activity. This is also when swarming typically occurs, allowing colonies to expand. However, termites remain active year-round, especially in warmer climates or heated homes. An established colony can continue to damage wood 365 days a year, even during cold weather.

Technically, yes, chinch bugs can fly. However you won’t usually see them in flight. Chinch bugs like to stick close to the ground and they usually move around by hopping or crawling (which is why they can be hard to see). Since they don’t get much chance at flying, they’re pretty bad at it and only fly for short distances—like to nearby yards.

Squirrels tend to forage, traveling along roof and fence lines. To trap a squirrel, placing a baited trap on the roof near the point of entry is the best option. If you can see them going in and out or recognize the damage they might be causing to the exterior of your home, you can also try placing traps near those locations.
