"Upon my initial inquiry, Randy was very professional and proficient. His response was quick and came out to give me my estimate the same day. Talk about fast service! I was able to get put on his schedule within a few days and his work blew me away. I have never had anyone make my lawn look as good as Randy did. If I could give Global Lawn Care 10 stars, I would. Thank you so much for your amazing work and making my yard look alive again!"

"We hired them after getting bids from other companies to install a privacy hedge in our back yard and additionally hook up irrigation to the new plants. Alfredo is a very knowledgeable professional, great to work with, reasonably priced and honest. He and his team did a beautiful job for us! We highly recommend their services and look forward to working with them again in the near future. - Jane and Pat F."

"Jeff the owner from Family Shield came to my home and assessed my lawn and immediately informed me of what he thought was going on with my lawn. Which lined up with my assessment. Everyone in the office has been very polite and has treated me with kindness and respect! I will post in a couple of months and let you know how my lawn is progressing! My first treatment begins this week! This is a family owned company and they have been remarkable!"

Small jobs welcome

"We had a large job of installing a number of plants around our pool cage and trees. We moved the plants that were around the pool cage to a new planting area, added irrigation lines there, and added new plants in front of them. Rocks were added around 11 palm trees for decoration. Rocks were also added to the new planting area and around the plants put by the pool cage. A planting area in the front yard and around the mailbox area had plants and irrigation installed. Irrigation and plants were added to our doggie area. They are also responsible to mow the lawn weekly in the summer and bi-weekly in the winter, pull weeds from the planting areas and lanai, edge, and clean the area. They will be trimming 11 palm trees soon. All work was completed in a timely fashion. Christian follows directions well and communicates with us by asking questions or having us come and look at any problem areas. He is knowledgeable about the plants and irrigation system and inspects everything regularly."

"Although I ultimately decided not to move forward with the project, I was extremely impressed with Rainscape Irrigation throughout the entire quoting process. Ivan was very knowledgeable, professional, and took time to clearly explain his recommendations and the different options available. The quote was detailed, descriptive, and easy to understand, which gave me confidence that they had thoroughly evaluated the scope of the work rather than simply providing a generic estimate. Their communication was excellent, and they consistently followed through when they said they would. It was also clear that Ivan takes pride in his work and genuinely wants customers to understand what they are purchasing. Even though I did not hire Rainscape for this particular project, their professionalism, responsiveness, transparency, and attention to detail made a strong impression. I would absolutely consider them for future irrigation work and would confidently recommend giving them an opportunity."

"I met with Steven from California Palms Landscaping to discuss my landscaping project. Just a few hours later I was sent a detailed and comprehensive quote for what my project would cost me, he even made suggestions that actually saved me money. His crew arrived on the date and time scheduled and did an OUTSTANDING job of converting my dried-out front lawn into a beautiful drought-tolerant and environmentally friendly landscape. They completed their work on time, on budget and cleaned up at the end of each dayâ s work. I definitely will use their services again; I have a backyard to rehabilitate!"

Lawns questions, answered by experts

To prepare your lawn for core aeration, water it the day before you aerate. (Alternatively, you can wait until it rains and aerate the following day.) Aerating after watering or a rainy day will make the process easier since you can penetrate moist soil better than dry soil. You should also flag your sprinklers so that you don’t accidentally hit them while aerating. If you have a lot of thatch buildup in your yard, you might need to dethatch your lawn before aerating as well.

Post-dethatching, lawn recovery includes watering, fertilizing, and reseeding as necessary to restore health and promote growth.

Generally, it is not necessary to remove old mulch before applying a new layer. As organic mulch breaks down, it enriches the soil with nutrients. However, you should remove the old layer if it shows signs of fungus or disease, which can be common in moist areas, or if the total depth is already too thick. Avoid letting the total mulch depth exceed 3 inches, as this can harm plant roots. If you do remove old, disease-free mulch, it can be added to a compost pile.

It’s often not necessary to clean up rocks before you sell or donate them, although it’s a nice gesture. Cleaning the rocks you’re getting rid of probably isn’t worthwhile if you’re selling a large volume of small rocks, but if you’re selling or donating large boulders for landscape design, a quick clean might fetch more money or help out the donation center.

The best way to clean an overgrown yard is to create a multi-stage game plan, from clearing out the debris to cleaning up the edges around hardscaping and landscape curbing. Get rid of yard debris like worn furniture and broken tools first, then start trimming and raking what’s left. Mow the grass, trim the hedges, and rake leaves away. Once that’s complete, move on to more detailed work, like pulling weeds and replanting gardens.
