"Shaughan first came out to deal with a double light problem - and found a great way to fix both problems at very modest cost. He came back with EJ to install a celing light in a closet with built in shelves- and through his clever work habit did not leave a speck of dust or debris! Then they installed a new ceiling fan/light combination in our living room. They were very polite, clean and neatly dressed, and completed their work well within our expected time frame. The fee was the amount quoted to us ahead of time. Calvary Electric was recommended to us by neighbors and we will continue to use them and recommend them to others. Great work, Shaughan & EJ, many thanks!"

"Our fridge is 12 years old, and when the ice cream melted we panicked and thought we'd need a new one. But first we consulted Angie's List and chose Coldapplianceman Corporation to do our repair. Mr. Brown responded to our call immediately, but couldn't make it until the next day due to the lateness of the hour. We scheduled to be the first appointment of his day, 8:30am. Unfortunately, he had to wait for some parts and was delayed an hour. Once here, Mr. Brown was efficient, and after listening to me describe the problem, got to work diagnosing the problem. Functioning easily in a very tight space behind our refrigerator (Mr. Brown is not a small man), he quickly eliminated the dreaded compressor possibility and climbed out from behind. Next he checked the temperature control board, where he found the problem. Luckily, he had the part in his truck, which he installed and the fridge has been working great ever since. We would definitely call him again and have already recommended him to our neighbors.

"I called Don in the beginning of the week and he worked around my schedule and was there, on time, by the end of the same week. What should have been an easy faucet replacement was complicated by the fact that the hole in my granite was smaller than the new faucet I had purchased. When Don told me this, I was sure I would have to go find a new faucet to fit the hole but he persevered and was determined. He was able to make the hole larger without damaging my granite and the finished product looks beautiful. He cleaned up any mess that was made and is very professional. I will absolutely call Don again!"

"Two crew members showed up the morning the job was to be done.  They couldn't have been nicer or more efficient.  The job went well, for I had questioned whether it could all be done in one day.  It could be. They cleaned up nicely before leaving.  We couldn't be happier with the work done.  Now when we look around the cage we're seeing "white" rather than rusted screw heads.  It's too bad the work done hadn't been the manner in which the cage was first constructed.  And just recently I called about replacing the cage door to which they'd added the door pull when first here.  Very next day the same two fellows showed up, put the door in place, used existing hardware, added the screen, screwed the lattice in place which runs all around the lower part of our cage.  Again, couldn't be happier.

"Michael and his team did an excellent job and my house looks beautiful! He painted my next door neighbor’s house and did such a great job that I ended up hiring him. I then recommended him to another neighbor who also hired him. We are all very pleased with his work and work ethic. Thank you, Five Star Painting!!"

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can oil an electric fan with machine or motor oil but don’t use cooking oil because it can become thick or seize up, damaging the fan. Before oiling your fan, turn it off and remove any dust and debris. Wipe away any excess lubricant after oiling.

Most duct booster fans are not designed to run continuously, though some models can be programmed for constant operation. Typically, they are controlled by the user via a switch, controls on the unit itself, or by being wired to the HVAC system's thermostat. Wiring the fan to a thermostat allows it to run automatically only when heating or cooling is active, which saves energy and is an effective way to activate the fan only when needed to address issues like uneven room temperatures.

Your blower motor may make a loud sound if the bearings overheat or wear down as your system ages. You may also hear loud noises coming from your blower if it’s struggling to pull in air due to dirty or damaged ducts, closed or blocked vents, or a dirty air filter. Typically, this causes a loud whistling sound.

As a general rule of thumb, clean your fans whenever you tidy up the home. Fans benefit greatly from a light weekly cleaning and a deep cleaning at the start of each season. If it’s been a while since you touched up the fans with oscillating blades, start with the deep cleaning before moving on to the lighter touch-ups. If you’re unsure when to clean fans and other parts of the home, learn how often you should clean your home.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.
