"Our home was built in 2016, but not to our specifications. The builder did just the minimum R-34 insulation in the attic, causing the HVAC to run constantly most of the year and the home could not hold its temperature (set to 73 but rose as high as 80 degrees). I sent a request to TLS and (surprisingly) got a call back within minutes from the owner Seth who, despite being on the road in Texas acquiring new trucks, spent a solid 15-20 mins on the phone to understand my situation. His product type is above standard and his prices are extremely fair, so set an appointment. Two weeks later, his brother Tom arrive 10 minutes EARLY for the appointment and his crew quickly knocked out the job in less time that they estimated. Since then our home (now with R-50+ attic insulation) stays cooler, has less humidity and the HVAC isn't working as hard. Hats-off to Seth & Tom at TLS Insulation! I highly recommend this company!!"

"We worked with David Hughes at Total Home and it was an incredible experience. Our insurance company only gave us enough to cover about 2/3 of the roof which was also supposed to cover our fence but after working with David, he contacted our insurance company and ended up getting us MORE than enough to pay for our roof and our fence with no money out of pocket. So grateful for his hard work and diligence."

"Not only does the roof look gorgeous it's efficient and quiet! It reduced our electric bill along with being cooler, it much quieter. We went with the insulated metal roofing system, which we would recommend, it takes a bit longer and it's more costly but worth the time and money. Frank and his team are friendly, straight forward, and easy to work with. They were efficient and clean, our neighbors even commented how much they appreciated how well they cleaned up each day to keep our road and driveway clear. We would highly recommend them for any roofing job!"

"He did a good job installing the weather striping around the doors.  One door wasn't in the frame correctly and he fixed that.
They sent someone by to check on his work.  That guy talked to us about the air tightness of our home, which is great.  He kept trying to find something wrong.  It is a newer home.  He mentioned we should put energy film on one window.  I looked the film up online and found it at Home Depot.  He told us that they had to do it because "if one speck of dust is on the film" it will compromise the integrity.  One speck of dust? This isn't an ER or clean room.  He was really pushing to try and sell something else.
Because of the salesman that came 'to make sure the door work was correct' is why we won't use this company again.

nstalling ENERGY STAR qualified windows, doors, and skylights lowers energy bills and saves you money. With more efficient windows, you also use less energy, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
Put an end to cold drafts and overheated spaces. ENERGY STAR qualified windows and doors keep your home’s temperature consistently comfortable. Even your favorite chair right by the window can be cozy with ENERGY STAR!
Do some of your rooms feel like a sauna in the summer? A standard double-pane window allows approximately 75 percent of the sun’s heat into your home. 1 With ENERGY STAR qualified windows you can stay cool all summer long. Most ENERGY STAR qualified windows reduce the “heat gain” into your home more than typical windows do, without reducing the visible light. You get the light you need without the uncomfortable heat.

"Our AC went out in the heat of July. They were out the same day and charged the system. After a day, it was down again. We ordered a new system. They were out everyday to charge the system so we wouldn't boil, until a new coil came in, at no charge.. They installed the coil as a substitute coil for the leaky one as a stopgap until out system came in, at no charge. After installation, they made two more trips to make sure the system was working properly. Alex and his team were professional in every way."

"The contractor worked from my design. He gave me discount cards and I purchased everything from local big box stores except water supply and drain pipes and electrical wire (supplied by contractor).  All decisions about measurements, sizes, amounts, etc. were left to me.  I was ready for work to start in August and had everything purchased and delivered and it sat in my living room, but contractor kept delaying. The good part was that at least he called and kept me informed of where he was.  Finally started in October and finished in early December.  The best part of his work is that he made everything (new walls and all bath items) fit and be pretty square and level in a 100+ year old house with crooked walls and floors. Was very impressed that he tiled floors that are uneven and slope. There are some things that could have been done better.  The drywall around the tub was never finished with tape and mud before the tile was put up.  One of the light fixtures was not centered when it was first installed and he moved it when I asked.  It was reinstalled a little crooked. I would have liked the grouted seams around the shower floor and tub to be sealed with waterproof caulking. An outside wall was exposed during demolition and instead of good foam insulation to cover the wall and protect the vanity's pipes, he just stuffed pieces of regular insulation around the pipes.  One of the bathroom's exhaust fans exhausts into the attic - which is a large space and hopefully will not be a problem - but it should go to the outside.  It was a very big job so overall I think they did excellent work.  I waited a year before I wrote the review and can say I am still very pleased."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Installing sheets of plywood over attic insulation is a popular choice, especially in storage spaces. That said, insulation works by trapping hot air—so it needs extra space to expand and be effective, or you might reduce the energy efficiency of your home.

It’s important that you never compress the insulation by installing flooring directly on top of it. In many houses, you’ll need to install a subfloor before putting plywood over insulation in your attic.

Bubble wrap is better for moving since it can be cut to size, whereas dish foam comes in precut sheets that are harder to manipulate. However, if you’re packing items like dishes, wine glasses, picture frames, or mirrors, dish foam will protect them better. Ensure you measure your box beforehand so you know what size dish foam to purchase.

Reflective and high R-value batt or roll insulation are often considered energy-efficient, offering significant thermal resistance benefits.

Yes, insulating ductwork in a crawl space is a worthwhile investment, especially if you live in a colder climate or run your air conditioning for most of the year. Uninsulated ducts can lose up to 30% of their heating and cooling efficiency, which can significantly impact your electricity bill. The project is a relatively small investment and typically only takes a few hours. It's a particularly simple add-on if you are already hiring someone to insulate the entire crawl space. An added benefit is that insulated ducts put off less hot or cold air, making them less attractive to pests.

Rockwool insulation can last up to 100 years, but just how long this insulation lasts in your home depends on how well it's maintained. Poorly installed insulation may last only 30 years, so be sure to regularly inspect your home's insulation for water damage, settling, and pests to give your insulation the best chance of having a long lifespan.
