"David and his crew performed a meticulous prep of my 3000+ home, from top to bottom, prior to the exterior painting. David’s attention to detail is exceptional, and he is a true perfectionist. "Luke was on time every morning 8am. he painted the whole house by himself. he always kept me involved asking me about areas of the house making sure he was doing everything to my specifications. he also stained my pool deck. The owner Peter helped Luke remove an old door on the side of my garage . close up the opening and stuccoed and painted. and this was all done for a very reasonable price. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for very good work and fair pricing.R"

"Beautiful attention to detail both in repairing stucco, drywall tape replacement, and in painting. Our house is gorgeous thanks to the meticulous detail. Clean up was just as thorough. Stuart double checked all the work to be sure he was satisfied with it and that we would be also. As a former educator I was also pleased to observe he made time for his daughter. Jane and Ray"

Painting questions, answered by experts

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.

An exterior paint job typically lasts between 5 and 10 years, though this can range from 3 to 17 years depending on several factors. The longevity is influenced by the quality of the paint and primer, the quality of the application, the local climate, and the type of surface being painted. For example, paint on wood siding may need to be redone every 3 to 7 years, while painted brick can last up to 17 years. Aluminum siding often needs repainting every 5 years.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.

Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.
