"They came out for the estimate, were on time. Looked at my attic, let me know there were no problems with my ducting before blowing in insulation. When they came for blowing in the insulation, they came on time and cleaned up afterwords. Great Job. Would recommend them."

"They did a excellent job with the insulation install. My problem is my AC unit is a half ton too small for the house. So insulating my home drastically improved the comfort level it did not resolve my main issue."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired this company to supply blown in insolation in our roof space. I felt this company was very efficient and doing their work and courteous to the customer. I did receive pictures of the space after the job is completed. Because I can not go into the roofs crawlspace. I am hoping that there is the amount of insulation that was stated. The pictures there is no way really to see how many inches of insulation however, the insulation was installed. I would not hesitate to call this company again I would perhaps ask them to use a yardstick to show the depth of the insulation installed. Very nice very nice people. Great service."

"After completion of roof insulation, we exceeded all counts on a wind mitigation for our insurance company. I was told by a non affiliated private inspector that not only will this application pay for itself, by both energy savings and a reduction in homeowners insurance, we additionally glued our roof to the foundation. Living with hurricane potential, it was worth it!"

"My home was built in 1979, the previous owners re-insulated in the 90s. Letâ s just say I needed new insulation badly. The hydro tech team were responsive, timely and explained the whole process to me. The techs were professional and quick. I was referred by my neighbor and Iâ m so glad I went with them. My home is feeling so much cooler already. Iâ m excited to see my new electric bill!"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Plaster itself has a higher R-value than drywall. However, there are other considerations surrounding plaster and insulation. As a general rule, it's easier to obtain consistency in insulating value and quality when working with drywall rather than plaster. Plaster walls often don't contain any insulation behind the wall covering by design, and careful evaluation is necessary when choosing to add it.

How to dispose of insulation depends on a few factors, including the condition of the material. While you can simply bag up and throw away many kinds of insulation, some municipalities offer recycling, so it's worth checking with yours. If there are contaminants such as asbestos in your insulation, abatement and specialized disposal are often necessary.

Chimney liners often benefit from insulation, though it is not always required. Insulation helps improve the liner's efficiency by keeping flue gasses hotter, which enhances draft and reduces creosote buildup. It also prevents condensation, which can lead to corrosion. Insulation is important for chimneys on exterior walls or in colder climates. Some building codes may require insulation, so checking local regulations is essential.

If you’re a savvy DIYer around the house, own the basic tools, and have enough time on your hands, you can definitely install fiberglass insulation yourself. Doing the work yourself will certainly keep overall insulation costs down. However, if you’re not confident in your handy skills around the house, call in a professional.

If you’re moving wires, installing new wires, or installing new fixtures in the space you’re insulating, then you will need to hire a licensed electrician to do that portion of the job for you. However, if you just intend on replacing old insulation or adding new insulation over existing insulation, then you don’t need to hire one. Your insulation installer will work around wiring, fixtures, outlets, and switches, even if they’re installing fiberglass batts in the voids where wires run. However, you will need an electrician if you suspect a problem with your wiring during the insulation work.
