"Kris is the consummate tile pro you want to hire. He is a consummate professional who works diligently to make sure you are completely satisfied with his work. He explains each step from demolition to installation and doesn’t leave the job completed until YOU are satisfied. He provided my wife and I photos of a dozen tiles for us to chose from. Included in his very affordable price was bringing our chosen tiles and cement and grout with him. He works neatly and takes care to leave the surrounding area and surfaces the way they were when he began the service. If you are in need of tile or marble repair or replacement this company is the only one you want to hire. Kris comes highly recommended!"

"I had tiles lifting in my living room from a baaad job done by the builders. They are long gone when these things happen. Tile Designs by Anthony saved the day. The area had hollow tiles as well so Tile by Design took up the ones that were lose did an "inject a tile" which rectified the hollow tiles then properly laid down the lifted tiles. I am very pleased with the results and will be discussing part II soon. Where he floats LVT over the existing stile. Can't wait for part lI to see the change in my home. He is very personable and gets the job done quickly and correctly. His workman was alsio very detailed and left the area clean."

"If we could give Alon an A+++ on here we would! We tiled approx 1000 sq feet which included two bathrooms, laundry room, kitchen and dining/living area. We chose a 5'x1' ceramic wood plank tile, which is incredibly difficult to install. Alon and his team handled the initial demo of the existing tile, laid the new ceramic tile and baseboards, and took care of the final cleanup. Our goal was to find an installer who would work with us from the beginning of the process to the end. Alon is not the type of guy to just send out a crew to do the work once he has sold the job. He handled every step of the process and was the only person who actually laid the tile. We were also looking for someone who would live up to our standards when it comes to detail. Alon listened to our concerns and took extra care to handle all the details to the best extent he could. He would even wait for us to show up at the house to walk through any areas of concern. To provide perspective on his attention to detail, Alon spent close to an hour walking us through the process when initially providing us a quote. He highlighted areas that would be a bit more complex as well as things we would need to consider throughout the process. During the install, he and his team were extremely professional, detail oriented; they even went so far as to tape off cabinets and wrap ceiling fixtures before beginning the demo. We have had countless compliments raving about Alon's work from neighbors and friends, to even our plumber who was at the house during the install. We are extremely grateful for Alon's hard work and attention to detail and could not be happier with the outcome!"

"A visit to the Daniel Flooring showroom offered a dizzying selection of literally hundreds of choices for flooring materials. In consultation with Daniel, my wife and I selected a product that would suit or needs, arranged an installation date, signed a contract, and paid our deposit. The Daniel Flooring two-man crew arrived precisely on time. The crew chief made a review of the rooms to be worked on while his companion began to unload the new flooring tiles. The pair worked quickly and efficiently as they removed the old carpet, scraped the concrete floor, and prepared the surfaces for the new tiles. The installation continued apace and within a span of less than two days the new tiles were installed seamlessly, the moldings and millwork were replaced, waste materials were removed, and the new floors were left immaculate. Both members of the crew were consistently cheerful, enthusiastic, courteous, and professional. We are in all ways satisfied with the goods and services provided."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.

Yes, your shower pan goes underneath your tiling and helps prevent excess water from seeping into the floor. Without the shower pan under your tile, water will seep through the grout and into the flooring. This will eventually lead to mold growth and serious water damage that could cost thousands of dollars to fix.

Silicone caulk shouldn’t be used in place of grout because each material serves its own purpose. Thanks to its flexibility, silicone caulk is good for sealing around the perimeter of tiled floors, where movement and expansion might occur. However, grout is more durable, making it a better option for the joints in between tiles, which need to withstand constant weight and foot traffic.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.
