"Krzysztof is not just any tile installer, he is a Master artist. For starters, he called back the same day I made an inquiry, he showed up on time for the estimate, he followed through promptly, and he was very flexible in scheduling. Now for the tile work... he truly is an artist. His work is flawless, and even in a 98 year old house where nothing is square, you would be hard pressed to find anything that is not perfectly lined up. Just amazing work, and he explained every detail every step of the way. His prices were extremely reasonable, especially when you know you are getting a Master of the trade. We can't say enough about the quality of his work. He is truly a remarkable craftsman and artist."

"I highly recommend I&K Service Inc. I hired to tile laundry room. Older home and demo group made floor uneven. He was able to level floor and install tile. Final project looked great and I hired him to install tile in Master bathroom that looks great. He asked questions, was easy to talk to, arrived on time, completed the job as scheduled, and cleaned area every day. Pricing was similar to other quotes and I would hire in the future."

"The gentleman did good work. He replaced a sliding door with a wall and smaller window. Then installed new cement board covered with tile Had a sub-contractor install the shower controls. Did nice finishing work around the walls. Now the downsides. I did offer him the use of extra 2x4?s in my garage, but he helped himself to other plywood and supplies found in my garage. Raided my tool box for tools he should have had. Does not clean up after himself, left my wife?s vanity a mess. Likes to add more billing at the very end not covered under contract. Overall, I would rate this as 3 out of 5."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.

Popular options include ceramic, porcelain, stone, and glass tiles, chosen based on the area (bathroom, kitchen) and desired aesthetic.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.
