Small jobs welcome

"Excellent. This was very short notice and Skilled Maids responded immediately. Doris and Maria make a great team -- skllled, focused, good communicators and upbeat all day long. There was more to do in a day than could possibly get done, but they quickly established priorities and accomplished much more than those. The house is clean and sparkling."

"I use Extra Green on a bi-weekly schedule to clean my house. I've been working with them for more than a year across 2 locations. In my experience, cleaning services on a long-time retainer can get lazy and eventually cut corners. I have never had that issue with Extra Green. Everything always looks impeccable."

"We have been using Virginia Window Cleaners for 20 years and have had an exceptional experience each time. For the first 10 years, we had the same person clean the windows each year (he has since retired). They are an A+ business from start to finish - beginning with the pleasant and professional service when you call to schedule an appointment, to when the last window is cleaned. They are meticulous in keeping all areas around the windows clean, very thorough in their cleaning of the windows and window sills, will carefully remove and replace screens if needed, clean screens if needed, and always check in with you when the work has been completed. Something else to consider when hiring a company to clean your windows, is the level of trust of having someone in your home for the day or partial day. This company is 100% trustworthy! Can not endorse this company enough!

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The time it takes to pack any kitchen depends on its size and how organized the space is. A kitchenette in a tiny abode could take 4 to 8 hours, including decluttering. However, a standard or much larger kitchen can take a full day or longer, depending on the number of items, including appliances you own.

Plan on deep cleaning the garbage disposal weekly with a maintenance run of ice cubes and lemon peels. Make it a regular part of your kitchen cleaning checklist.

Putting off cleaning your fridge is a bad idea for a few reasons. For one, any food spills can build up, making it much harder to clean your fridge when you finally do get around to it. Plus, any stray pickle juice or leaky leftovers are a recipe for a stinky fridge.

But beyond that, if you don’t clean your fridge, it could be a health hazard. Old food can turn moldy and old spills can too. Even if none of that scares you, putting off cleaning your fridge will make it look downright gross, which should be reason enough to break out your sponge.

To clean an estate, start by locating all important documents, which you’ll need to sort through. Have the mail forwarded, change the locks, and take inventory of the entire estate. Once you know what you’re dealing with, create a plan and a timeline for the cleanout. Start clearing out rooms and sorting items to donate, sell, or get rid of. Finally, deep clean the property.

You can use dish soap mixed with warm water to clean just about any type of flooring, and while vinegar is a great addition to some floor cleaners, it’s not a good idea to use it on wood flooring or engineered wood flooring. Vinegar is very acidic, and it can gradually eat away at the protective finish on wood floors. If you’re cleaning laminate, tile, concrete, or vinyl floors, feel free to use vinegar and water in a 1-to-1 ratio with a few drops of dish soap. For wood floors, substitute the vinegar for olive oil.
