"I used Sergio during my kitchen remodel, and he was great to work with from start to finish. He moved outlets for us and helped fix several electrical issues that came up during construction. He was always on time, communicated clearly when scheduling appointments, and was very professional throughout the process. He also suggested a few improvements that made sense, but never made me feel pressured to do extra work. Overall, a great experience and I highly recommend him. I will use him again for any electrical needs that I have."

"Jose and team were amazing. The price was fair. The guys worked efficiently and clean. I couldn't be happier. They installed a Level 2 charger in my carport and added a main transfer switch to a location away from the main breaker box. We are very happy."

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Black is the standard color for hot wires, which transfer electricity to your outlets and switches. Red wires are also hot wires. White (and sometimes gray) wires are considered neutral, delivering power back to the panel. Finally, green wires, which are sometimes bare copper, are ground wires, used to ground an electrical circuit and prevent electrocution.

A pigtail is the only safe way to connect an electrical device to more than one circuit wire. Connecting multiple wires to a single screw terminal is extremely dangerous and must never be done. Many electricians will opt for pigtails even when there are multiple screw terminals available so that the device in question won’t halt the flow of downstream current when a problem arises.

Yes, you can get shocked while using a multimeter if:

  • You touch the metal tip while testing a live current.

  • The meter isn’t properly rated for the voltage.

  • The meter picks up on transient voltage that’s above the range you’ve set.

  • The meter has defective parts.

You can prevent shock and personal injury by using a multimeter properly and maintaining your device.

If you’re unsure how to use a multimeter or want help with your project, contact a local electrician to get the job done.

A 3-prong, 15-amp, 120-volt outlet is standard in the U.S. These have two vertical slots and a U-shaped grounding hole, which suits most home electronics, from televisions to microwaves. Three-pronged outlets are safer than 2-pronged ones, as the third wire, known as the grounding wire, helps prevent shocks and electrical fires.

These advanced generators use a key fob or a smartphone app to remotely start, which is ideal for getting power back on immediately without venturing outside. This feature is more common on whole home generators, but you may be able to find it on large portable generators, too.
