"Though I am happy with the final result, I feel that TJ did a bit of a bait and switch. The person who showed up, Felipe, was from a different company. "TJ" quoted me $900 for the job and $300 to move washer and dryer to access the main valves. That's $1,200. In the end, washer and dryer were not moved. But I did ask them to replace a faucet cartridge in my bathtub, which they did. But before that, Felipe had managed to turn off the water to my unit without moving washer and dryer. He then had to cut into drywall to locate the outbound pipes, but made a mistake. The next cut he made found the water pipes but these were the wrong pipes. An emergency water shutoff to the building was required. In the end, the bill was for $1,800. They did not take credit card. No receipt was given to itemize work done. These guys, from Moor Plumbing Solutions, did work hard and got the job done but there was a serious lack of transparency from the very beginning, not to mention a near disaster."

Pipe-thru provides services such as water main replacement, trencheless sewer line, pipe bursting, electrical conduit and gas line. We also repair and replace sewer lines and main lines. We can also help you with pipe inspections and leaks. Please feel free to contact us with any question or concern you may have. Our first priority is to meet your needs and we guarantee complete and satisfied work. We look forward to working you.

"Jose and his crew were great! He came highly recommended by a neighbor, who had hired them to completely re-plumb her house. We needed our 75-year-old sewer line replaced: I got an estimate within a day or two of requesting one, and he caught a problem with the original installation that other contractors had missed in their inspection. Jose and his crew did the work as promised and cleaned up the site every day---spotless! We had a small tree that was growing near the line which they managed to save, which we didn't think was going to be possible, and they managed to dig a huge hole in our tiny front yard without a lot of impact to our other landscaping. They handled all the permitting and inspections, too, and made sure I got copies of all the relevant paperwork for our household records. I highly recommend Pipe-Thru, they were so easy to deal with and completely professional all the way. They charged a fair and reasonable price for the work. I will definitely call them when I have any other underground piping issues--including installing electrical conduit to our backyard shed, which we want to do in the future. Can't recommend them highly enough."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Yes, a septic tank can get full. If this happens, you might run into issues flushing your toilets or draining your sinks. You may also notice your pipes making gurgling noises or the smell of sewage floating around your house. Other signs of a backed-up septic tank include water pooling or fresh, healthy grass growing above your drain field.

How to size a well pressure tank is determined by three factors: flow rate, or how many gallons per minute your well pump produces; minimum runtime; and pressure switch setting. Most pressure tanks have a pressure switch operating at 20/40, 30/50, and 40/60—the first number is the pressure needed for the pump to turn on, and the second number is the pressure needed for the pump to switch off. Most homeowners relying on well water require a water pressure tank ranging from 20 to 80 gallons.

A septic tank riser should extend to just above the ground level or slightly above it. The exact height can vary depending on local regulations and personal preferences, but a common guideline is to have the riser's top flush with or no more than a few inches above the surrounding ground. This height allows for easy access to the septic tank without creating a tripping hazard or obstructing mowing and landscaping activities. It's essential to ensure that the riser lid is easily visible and accessible for regular maintenance and inspection while being mindful of safety and aesthetics.

The bacteria already present in your septic system should be enough to break down solids in a properly maintained septic tank. However, if you’re in a DIY mood, you can try adding (well-mashed) rotten tomatoes to help the good bacteria fulfill their duty. Just make sure you give them a couple hours to work after flushing them down.

Soda, coffee, and other soft drinks are highly acidic. This affects the pH in septic tanks, causing them to require more frequent pumping. However, a vast majority of people don't need to worry about septic system disruption. Pouring out the occasional flat soda doesn’t affect septic systems to the same degree as the high-volume dumping from restaurants and convenience stores.
