He had a single person doing carpentry, tile work, flooring, dry wall work, painting, etc. The quality of work was very poor. Furthermore, Geoff is never available and has no time to show up and manage the project. His completion timeline was way off. I ended up terminating project with him. I lost money and time. Be careful hiring Benchmark."

If you have access to the foundation walls, adding spray foam insulation to your existing unfinished basement or crawl space is straightforward. Replacing existing insulation in your unfinished attic space is possible after removing the old insulation. Insulation materials with low R-values can be layered to match the value of denser materials. As long as your floor insulation is packed tightly, seals the area from drafts, and doesn’t prevent ventilation, it can be as thick (or thin) as you need.

Pipes in your house can freeze after six hours or so if you lose power and temperatures are below freezing. You can prepare for potential power outages by winterizing your pipes with insulation. Also, whenever temperatures drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, turn your faucets on very low and leave them dripping until temperatures rise.

While adding insulation can be beneficial, there is too much of a good thing. Too much insulation can seal your house to the point where it can't release moisture that enters it—essentially trapping water vapor inside. Warm, humid climates are extra susceptible to mold from moisture issues, but homes in colder climates can experience condensation from an air-tight home when freezing temperatures thaw.
