"Matt, the owner of WeatherPro Exteriors is always professional. He provided a quote and scope of delivery and followed through as promised. His installers did a wonderful job and were finished in no time. They too, were professional, respectful and polite. The site was all clean when they left. The installation work was of the highest quality. No issues there. My only problem is with the storm windows themselves. The latches on the windows and screens didn't operate properly, a manufacturer's defect. I informed Matt's lead installer, John, who came out immediately to see for himself, what the problem was. He agreed that there indeed was an issue and advised me that he would need to contact the distributor, which he did. After a couple of weeks, the distributor's service man stopped by, and I showed him the problem. He said that he would contact the manufacturer, because it was a manufacturer's defect. That was a month ago. Today I finally received a call from the manufacturer (ProVia) and the service manager said one of his service guys would stop by when he was in the area. He expected that to happen within another four weeks. The average cost per storm window was appx. $306 installed. Kind of expensive when you consider what a brand new complete window costs and the defect resolution that I am chasing. Ironically, I ordered just one storm window to begin with to verify color and quality. It was perfect, so I went ahead with the balance of the order (nine more windows). After they were all installed, I discovered that the nine subsequent windows were all defective. Only the first (sample) storm window, works perfect. Trying to get this resolved is taking quite some time. Seems like everyone says it's someone else's responsibility.

"GGG Exteriors recently completed a roof mitigation project for our home, and we are very satisfied with the results. Their team was professional, responsive, and took the time to explain the entire process from start to finish. They addressed the problem areas quickly and made sure everything was completed correctly and safely. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and left the property clean after the job was done. We appreciated their honesty, communication, and attention to detail throughout the project. "Erik Pfarrer was our salesman and he was AWESOME!!!! Explained everything and went above and beyond I even expected him to do. Awesome person. Erik Alvarez The foreman on the job was wonderful too went above and beyond to help to make everything perfect. Any question I had was not pushed aside. It was addressed immediately and explained in detail. Everyone working on my house, roof, sightings, and gutters were professional and cleaned up wonderfully after they were done, including the guys who did the roof. They even cleaned off the top of the roof to make it look even better than it did. Would definitely recommend."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

You shouldn’t put a new roof underlayment over an old one for a few reasons. Old felt must be removed in order to assess the condition of your roof decking, such as rotting wood or other structural issues. Also, if your roofer doesn't install a fresh layer of felt as is required by shingle manufacturers, your warranty may be voided. Finally, old underlayment removal is often included in the cost of roof repair or replacement, so there's no real benefit to leaving it on before installing a new layer.

A spray foam roof costs an average of $6,000 to install, making it one of the most affordable flat roofing options available. Costs can increase if you have a complex roof design with many roof vents or have a roof that’s larger than average. While up-front costs are relatively low, keep in mind that ongoing maintenance and repairs tend to be more expensive than you’d see with other flat roof materials.

Flapping shingles, or shingles that are lifting or curling away from your roof, can be glued back into place using roofing cement or sealant. Apply the glue underneath the shingle, then press it down firmly. You can leave a brick on top of the shingle to hold it in place overnight while the sealant dries.

Yes, moss can be dangerous for your roof if left in place to grow without treatment. The moss soaks up and holds moisture. Having a constantly damp roof could lead to problems with rot for the parts of the roof that consist of wood. Additionally, a patch of thick moss may draw insects and birds, which could damage the roof. Thick moss could block the roof’s drainage system. Water then may back up after a rainstorm and cause further damage that could eventually lead to roof repair expenses or the cost of roof replacement.

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.
