"Communication from the owner Brett was excellent. Extremely satisfied with the quality of the work. They installed a kitchen backsplash and they left both my kitchen and the outside work area absolutely spotless! We will absolutely use them again and I have already asked by my friends for their information!!! Also wanted to mention that the owner even stopped by mid project to check in with us to make sure everything thing was going satisfactorily. He called a few days later to check to make sure we were still satisfied. Very professional!!!"

Small jobs welcome

"Was I ever lucky to hire Cliff! 35 years of experience, very detail oriented, easy to work with. He found that the first batch of tile I bought was all faulty. There was sand grit exposed in the finish glaze and the edges were wider in some spots that others which, he told me, would effect the uniformity of the grout lines. Then he went with me to get excellent tile. I would never have known that."

"It was over Christmas time so it took a long time for them to get out. I didn't feel like he gave me much of their ideas. My kitchen doesn't work for me and I gave them a picture of what I wanted. I didn't feel like they met that. They fell short of my expectations. It didn't cost more. They measured and looked around. The drawings that they gave me weren't significantly different than what I have. I think it was a good price. It would go towards the price if I did the work. They know what they are doing."

"They seem to know what they’re doing and they are just straight up about things.  We are gathering information to provide them like cabinet sizes and countertop material.  They can’t submit the bid until we have all that other stuff gathered up and we can tell them what they want in the way of appliances, countertops, and cabinets."

"James is a consummate professional who is constantly concerned about his customers' requirements. At our request, he came in on a Sunday and detailed the full window installation procedure to us. He also offered us excellent assistance on selecting the appropriate colour and style. I would strongly suggest James and his crew to anybody."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all best tile for a dog shower. Consider your budget, tile durability, aesthetics, and, most importantly, practicality. Avoid tiles your dog will slide around on. Pebbles are a great non-slip option, but are pricey and tricky to install. Glass might look modern, but it’s not scratch-resistant. Small, floor-rated ceramic or porcelain tiles are economical and have many grout lines that make the surface more slip-resistant. Pick a matte finish rather than a shiny tile if you want it to hide stray mud and hairs better.

Yes, you can use paint if you want to refresh your tile countertops. However, you must be mindful of the type of paint you use. Look for options explicitly created for tile that are also waterproof and durable. Over time, the paint will chip, so this is not considered a long-term solution for busy kitchens.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.
