"Cabbros Cleaning is one of the best companies we have hired. They take a lot of pride in the work they do and it shows everyweek. We are a state government agency and our staff work in construction, so they do not occupy space in a clean manner based on their weekly activities and Cabbros is always making us sparkle. They are so kind and friendly, prompt, and I am so thankful we found them. Best we have ever had!!"

"My windows are old and not easy to clean. The technician went above and beyond in order to get them clean and smudge free. He was great at checking in and keeping me informed of his progress."

"Heavy moss buildup on the roof and a pressure washer that conked out and having to wait for a replacement caused the job to take a very long time, 13 hours total over two days. Jo and Thomas were polite, professional and did a good job cleaning up afterwards, too. External window cleaning was also good. I guess I needed to specify that that skylight and the top of the breakfast nook also should have been cleaned. They were lightly pressure washed but not scrubbed with soap like the other windows were."

Window Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, you should clean your windows and any associated fixtures and treatments every six months. Otherwise, clean them as needed to keep everything running smoothly. If you live in a part of the country with especially hard water, you may have to clean them three or four times per year, and the same goes for areas where insects, pollen, dirt, and other debris can soil your windows and potentially cause issues with the moving parts.

There are a few qualifying questions you can ask a professional window cleaner to help you decide if it’s the right company for you:

  • Does your price include the inside and outside of the windows?

  • Will you clean the tracks, rails, and other internal components?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • What kind of cleaning products do you use?

  • Do you have any customer references?

  • Do you provide any other services, like exterior power washing?

The best way to clean outside windows is by using a garden hose. Start by spraying the windows with a high-pressure stream to clear off loose dirt and grime. Then use a mixture of hot water and dish soap and scrub the windows with a sponge. Rinse off the soapy water with the hose. Before you finish up, spray the windows with a solution of vinegar and water and wipe them down with a microfiber cloth.

In most cases, you should get your windows cleaned one to two times annually, although you might want to complete this task more often if you live in an area with heavy pollen or heavy rain or snowfall that soils your windows. It’s also a good idea to hire a professional window cleaning service if you’re listing your property, as sparkling windows will make a big difference in terms of curb appeal and, potentially, your home’s value.

Soot can be harder to remove compared to other types of stains given its acidic nature. It can also cause underlying paint to peel off during the cleaning process. If your soot issue is a result of smoke damage, it’s recommended you call a pro to help remove it versus doing it yourself.
