"Disappointed. Sound Tile and Grout was on the pricer side and I definitely did not feel that I received what I paid for. Part of the initial install was done poorly (more joints than necessary, see picture) and required the provider to return to reinstall portions of the tile which I was charged extra for. The provider did not clean up at the end of each day nor was the area thoroughly cleaned after the job was completed. The provider left pieces of tile on our front sidewalk and a track of dirt and debris down our stairwell. Grout haze was also not fully removed. At the end of the day the completed install did turn out well, but I would not recommend this company due to the above concerns."

"I wanted to give kudos to Adrian and his team. I had a guest break a corner soap, which needed to be replaced. The handyman that normally does stuff in my house wasn't comfortable doing the removal himself and wanted to call in a pro. I called a number of tile specialists and either got that they were too busy for a small job (this market is CRAZY) or very high prices. Adrian came back with a reasonable price and was able to get someone out the next week. They were totally professional and did a great job. I would definitely use them again."

"It has been a while since we have had this work done and I feel badly about taking so long to write a review, but in the meantime, I have been sending everyone I know to talk to Russell and his team! We had a complex project in a small space... knocking down a wall and turning a tiny 1928 kitchen and tiny dining room into one larger galley kitchen. It wasn't very wide, so needed careful design and custom cabinetry everywhere. We had done some thinking about it with another designer and brought plans to Russell. We hired his team to do the work and were so impressed with the results! I'll break down the categories: Price -- We gave a scope of work to 9 different contractors and got fairly consistent pricing, and his was one of the lowest. We did have a little bit of extra cost at the end that we had a misunderstanding about because of a miscommunication, but Russell met with us to resolve that fairly in a professional manner. Also, in the end, we were able to get a much higher quality and therefore better value for the price from Russell and his team versus what we had been shown with other companies. We really appreciated being able to supply our own appliances, fixtures, etc, instead of having them so greatly marked up by other companies. That saved on cost and helped us get what we wanted. Workmanship - Excellent! We couldn't be more satisfied with the job the team did. They really took time and care and were knowledgeable throughout the process. The quality of our kitchen is amazing, and we know it is higher quality than we would have gotten for the same price elsewhere. They were also able to do complex tasks like match our original wood floors excellently without too much concern, whereas other companies made a much bigger deal out of this part of the job. Timing - Wow! I was so doubtful they could get this done in the 3 weeks they quoted, but they did! We were incredibly impressed. They are a family business and they work one job at a time and they work hard! They were here from 7-7 many days, and their tile guy, with our permission, even came on Thanksgiving morning to work! Working with Them - One thing to know, because of how fast they work, is that you have to be prepared to make quick decisions. They did a lot of on-the-spot changes and were much more flexible with, say, our custom cabinets (they cut them on site) or the shape of our countertop, but we had to be ready to make a decision because it would impact the next day's work. I did have a little panic over paint color and had to ask them to wait a day to paint while I decided, which they did graciously. Russell was also really knowledgeable and helpful in helping us get the right aesthetic and picking out the right materials... We ended up with the perfect countertop and backsplash after he brought us samples, and we had been looking for months on our own! Bottom line - I wouldn't hire anyone else for a remodel job! And believe us, we talked to about 20 people and interviewed 9 formally! We are so hapy with the work Russell and his team did! :)"

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

Yes, a granite countertop can be cut in place. However, learning how to cut a granite countertop in place is a lot trickier than cutting granite in an open, well-ventilated space. You’ll also need to protect everything in the surrounding area (like your kitchen cabinets and appliances), but even that might not be enough to prevent dust from getting stuck in tight spots. If you absolutely must cut a granite countertop in place, consider hiring a pro to get the job done in the cleanest and safest way possible.

Unfortunately, the product Bar Keepers Friend won’t remove etching from stone countertops. In fact, it can make it worse. Bar Keepers Friend contains oxalic acid, which can cause further damage to natural stones like marble or limestone.

The cost to repair a stone countertop typically ranges from $200 to $800. The final price depends on several factors, including the type and severity of the damage, the type of stone, and labor costs. Minor issues like small cracks, chips, or scratches are on the lower end of the cost spectrum, while more significant damage that requires resurfacing, refinishing, resealing, or custom color matching will be more expensive.

Due to the acidity, using vinegar to clean quartz countertops can actually damage them. In fact, doing so can cause discoloration and surface damage in the quartz. While it’s possible to clean other countertops, like laminate, tile, and butcher block, with vinegar, it’s best to stay from this cleaning solution if you have quartz in your kitchen or bathroom.

Silestone® is a brand of quartz countertops; one isn’t necessarily better, but they have their differences. Silestone® costs slightly more than the average quartz countertop because you’re paying for the brand name and unique features. For example, Silestone® is often more sustainable than regular quartz because you can purchase varieties made with recycled materials. It also has antibacterial properties and design options some homeowners prefer. Plus, you can use it across your whole kitchen rather than solely for countertops.
