When I contacted NW Granite and Marble, I was told that it was my fault, that if I wanted it centered under the window I should have told them. "It is standard practice to center the sink to the cabinet, and not to any outside influences like window or wall placement, unless specified at template. I just spoke with Pete and he doesn't have any record or memory of discussing centering the sink/faucet to the window. It still might not have been possible, depending on the cabinets and plumbing. By default, the sink is centered to the cabinet unless the customer specifies otherwise. I'm so very sorry but other than ripping it out and starting over, there's nothing we can really do."
Had I been a builder or a contractor I may have known how the template process works, but instead I counted on the professionals to help guide me through the process. I had no idea what Pete was measuring, nor was I consulted on anything regarding placement, etc. I was also not consulted prior to the hole being cutout for the faucet by the installer. The cabinet and the plumbing are not an issue, and I do not believe that Pete even looked to see how the existing plumbing was installed.
I relied on the professionals to guide me through the process and to point out these type of details - however I apparently was supposed to know exactly what he was measuring for the template without any type of discussion and to know that my cabinet was not quite centered and that the standard is not to center the sink with the large window that it sits directly under.
I have talked to several people who are involved in remodels and they have concurred that they would have also had it lined up with the window from an aesthetic standpoint. I have also shown pictures to co-workers who agree on the placement and the disappointment with the sink and faucet not being centered with the window.
I feel as though I am being taken advantage of from a female perspective. I do not think that they would make the same assertions if I was a man.
This company did everything wrong, and will not work with us to make right. The owner Sergio, even came out to look, agrees
that it was installed incorrectly, says he'll fix it, but now doesn't return any of our calls or text messages. Hired a lawyer to write a letter to him & he hasn't responded to that either. Now we are taking him to court to get his bond so we can re-do this whole mess.
Don't do business with this company! They have Woodinville address & Redmond address!
This has gone on for over two weeks. I have had numerous calls with Sergio, the owner, who at one point seemed to want to fix this but then went on to avoid me and blame the front desk for miscommunication. Bottom line: they lost the measurements, lied about the work being ready for installation, measured incorrectly so there was not enough stone left for the backsplash, lied about being able to get more stone to make the backsplash. All they ever had to do was say "We messed up, we are sorry. How can we work together to make this right for both of us."
This is my first bad encounter with a company I found through Angie's List. I will use the list again as I look for a tile person to fix the holes in the wall and install a backsplash that will (hopefully) work with the vanities.
Now that the work is complete I'm satisfied with the end product, but it was such a painful road to get here that I cannot recommend anyone use their services. Their communication skills are terrible, both internally and to their customer, ie. me. Internal miscommunication resulted in their having to come back and template twice, forgetting to bring support beams required for an overhang on the install day (then telling me they would have to charge me rush delivery to get them to me, which I had to argue my way out of), forgetting to bring the vanity countertop, then when they finally came back with it on another trip they had cut it out of the wrong material...and this was at about the half way point of the project. There were further screw-ups but I think you get the point...
Their communication to me throughout this process was also very poor. I received vague scheduling information that they would be back out "wednesday or thursday" then when thursday came around, still not having heard from them I had to call only to be told it would now be Friday...this kind of thing happened several times (I lost count, but I think it took something like 5 total visits to my house for them to complete what should have been a fairly simple job).
Hope this review is helpful in preventing someone else from going through this experience..
"[Member name removed], It was a pleasure working with you. Thank you for your business!"
great job on the installation - very professional. The material was exactly what we were looking for. They also adjusted to a schedule delay based on cabinet installation. We did have to negotiate on price and provide evidence of competitor pricing. Typically you'd expect the vendor to stay connected with competitors. no concerns about the quality of the material. The installers knew exactly what they were doing and were done in a day.
Very willing to work with us on schedule. I would definitely recommend them, but be prepared to compare pricing.
they were also prompt on quotes and great to work with on plans and details.
We went back to them for a quote on our countertop in the powder room and they were again the highest price, so we went with an alternate company at half the price - same material to match the kitchen quartz.
Install went very well overall. Quartz counters are completely straight and seams are very hard to see. Sinks were also installed very well. Only complaint is that some of the work was subbed out, and the communication between subs wasn't great. We wound up having to pay our general for work that we though Nw granite was going to do
They were incredibly efficient in the demolition of the granite tiles and backsplash and measured for the slabs and installed them on the second day! They also installed my fireclay sink. They were precise and asked lots of questions and were neat and tidy! They covered my stone floors, covered furniture in the kitchen eating area, family room and swept when they were done. Not only were all of his workmen pleasant, professional and did a great job, Sergiu checked the job every step of the way!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He has an Eastside and a Seattle location. He definitely will be handling my next project!
