"By his own admission, Mark is "flighty" but DON'T let that turn you off!  He and his crew could not score higher marks from me. Truly. Mark is very amiable and SO EASY to work with. It's so refreshing to work with a contractor who will make adjustments here or there and not gripe about it or charge you an extra buck on something that takes him or his crew a second to do.  They were very responsive when it came to ducts that needed to be pushed up above the ceiling joists so that the drywall could lay flat. They closed off a gas line while they were there. They worked diligently with us when the city inspector called out the need for a whole house vent system and used some nice creativity to keep the exterior duct vent away from the front of the house (which would have been unsightly).
All in all, Mark was very nice to work with. His crew showed up on time, worked like happy dwarves (without the whistling) and went above and beyond to make sure that if I had any concerns or adjustments, to tend to them without any push back or nickel and diming.  It's ironic that everyone scores their contractors with an "A" on price (in theory, not everyone can be an 'A') but it's true in this case. They were competitive, if not the cheapest bid we received.  And they did what they said they would - and more!
I can't recommend them more.  More so than any other contractor out there (whether HVAC or otherwise) in my vast work in real estate, I would unhesitatingly refer you to AirPros.  I'll use them in the future and refer them to my clients who have need for HVAC work.

"I'm a member of the excellent Allred subscription service that provides for consistent maintenance checkups for all installed equipment. I scheduled a tune for my heat pump, Allred was thorough and quick in setting the appointment, and communication of status and pending arrival time was on point. Raphael arrived, walked me through the maintenance steps he planned to take and the sequencing of the job, gave me an anticipated time to complete, and was at work immediately. All stated deliverables were met, and he provided a thorough after service report complete with pictures to show the work that was done and the recommended additional maintenance that would be wise to do to extend the life of our equipment. He was courteous, pleasant, clean and well-spoken, and I felt completely comfortable with him working in our home. I will continue to recommend Allred to my friends seeking HVAC services, and have sent several folks their way already. Very happy customer, exceptionally positive experience."

"Didn't realize that Smart Electric did HVAC as well, until I got a recommendation. Their quote was the best I'd received, they performed the install within a week of giving us the quote, the Installer/Estimator was knowledgable and helpful, and the installation was performed by an excellent group. I can't imagine we could be happier about our Heat Pump installation!"

"Bradley knows what heâ  s doing. I originally hired Seatown Electric to come out and install an in-house backup generator. Bradley came out to install the generator and found that we had some pretty dangerous wiring at the panel and it was not nearly up to code. I was in the HVAC industry 30 years ago and the mechanical theory in which Bradley explained made complete sense. Bradley finished up the generator install and he gave me a bid to fix the issue. The same day, we called Seatown and we made an appointment for him to come back and do the work. Bradley and Austin showed up at 7:50am, 10 minutes before the job started. They met with me and got started. I always like to look at service techs trucks to see what kind of person is working on my home. Bradleyâ  s truck was immaculate. Extremely organized, very clean and it looked like a service truck that was on the DeWalt showroom floor. The instant I saw Bradleyâ  s truck, I knew his work was going to be perfect. The professionalism from both Bradley and Austin was outstanding. They worked extremely hard for almost 11 hours that day. They didnâ  t mess around, they had their mind set on the job and I was extremely impressed at their work ethic. We have been through 4 major renovations between our two homes and have used a myriad of different contractors, but never have we had a team close to as good as these guys. I would put every apprentice with Bradley, he knows what he is doing. Seatown is lucky to have this guy, they better take care of him. Great job guys!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

AC evaporator coils should be cleaned at least once per year to keep your unit in good condition. For optimal performance, consider cleaning them twice a year—once before and once after the main cooling season. More frequent cleanings may be necessary for older systems, units with performance issues, or those in climates with high levels of humidity, dust, and dirt.

One of the first signs of mold in an air conditioner is a musty smell. You're likely to notice the smell when the unit runs, from the air coming out of the vents or the unit itself. You may also be able to see mold growing on the unit, such as near the condenser coils or by the fan. In some cases, there may be visible mold by the vents.

No. Your furnace does not run your air conditioner. Both units use the same system of ductwork to move conditioned air throughout your home, but you can have a furnace without having an air conditioner and vice versa. Furnaces are only for heating your home. You can buy a system that does both, however, like a split system or a heat pump (yes, heat pumps cool, too).

For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.

No, it isn’t necessarily bad to turn your AC on and off frequently—contrary to popular belief. Even if you stop and start your AC throughout the day, it won’t use as much energy as it would if you ran it nonstop.

If you’re concerned about your power consumption and energy costs, there are a few simple ways to use your AC more efficiently. Regularly cleaning the filters, scheduling routine maintenance, and using a programmable thermostat are all great choices.
