"I had a breaker problem that was turning off the power to half my home in Bothell. Switch Electric responded promptly to my call for help & the very nice young man who came to my home was extremely knowledgeable, thorough & systematic in his approach to identify the problem. I highly recommend Switch Electric. The two young men who assisted me in rectifying the breaker problem were great. Anyone who wants high level expertise in electrical matters, prompt response & excellent communication skills, hire Switch Electric for your electrical needs."

"My experience with A&A Electric was very positive. I've used electricians before, but Alexander Sablin was, by far, the most professional. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. Mr. Sablin patiently and clearly explained things (no mansplaining). I had some special needs when it came to timeframes, and he went above and beyond to accommodate. At the end of the project he left things cleaner than he found them. I highly recommend this company."

"I have had the pleasure of working with Smart Electric for a couple years now. I am a Project Manager for a Custom Home Builder and this company has it dialed in! Joe is amazing to work with. He excels in putting together bids quickly, being very communicative, and is always very professional. They also have an all-star crew. Jason and Keith are some of the best electrical leads I have worked with. They always have a great attitude onsite. Also a shout out to the office staff Sammy & Molly are great to work with. They are always on top of scheduling inspections and communicating updates with me. Highly recommend Smart Electric!"

"I have used MIke and the folks from his company on a number of prior electrical jobs as I upgrade the electrical work in my old condominium unit. MIke and his associates have always done a great job (prompt, timely completion, clear communication before hand and great job at a reasonable price). Would use them again."

Small jobs welcome

"Yes, he got all the work done that he was hired to do. On top of that, there were obstacles that made the job more difficult, but he got around those and did an excellent job. I live in an older home and I have an older electrical box. I thought for sure he was going to tell me it needed to be replaced. But he said though it was old, It was still a good box. I appreciated the fact that he showed up when he said he would or would call to say he was running behind. I have found so many contractors these days don’t even show up so this was definitely a refreshing change. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for quality electrical work."

"Our home had inadequate electric service. McCarthy Electric provided a bid to install 200 amp service to support our growing needs. My interactions with their team has been the most satisfying experience I have had with a service provider. The service was upgraded per the bid with no drama, in a timely fashion. I was kept informed of important developments in a courteous and professional manner. I will be a return customer for any future electrical needs."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Seattle homes with modern electrical panels, accessible crawl spaces, and sufficient service capacity are ideal for upgrades like smart home systems or EV charging. If your home was built before the 1990s, check for available space near your panel and ensure your wiring can handle increased loads. Homes with unfinished basements or attics often allow for easier installation of new circuits or lighting.

Helpful?

In Seattle, electrical projects can reveal hidden issues like outdated aluminum wiring or insufficient grounding, especially in homes built before the 1980s. Permit and inspection fees often arise at multiple stages, and weatherproofing is crucial for outdoor upgrades due to the city’s frequent rain. If your project uncovers asbestos or knob-and-tube wiring, additional remediation may be necessary, impacting your timeline and scope.

Helpful?

Seattle’s damp climate means you should inspect exterior outlets and lighting annually for moisture intrusion and test GFCI outlets monthly. Look for rust or corrosion on outdoor fixtures and confirm that weatherproof covers are secure. Schedule a professional inspection every few years to check your panel, test arc-fault breakers, and ensure surge protection is functioning, especially before the rainy season begins.

Helpful?

In Seattle, consider applying for utility rebates when planning energy-efficient electrical upgrades or solar projects. Be aware of neighborhood guidelines in historic districts and HOA rules for multi-unit buildings. Schedule work during drier months to minimize weather delays, and plan ahead for permit processing times, which can be longer during peak construction season. Anticipate future needs like EV charging or expanded smart home features.

Helpful?

When hiring an electrical pro in Seattle, prioritize those with experience in local permitting and familiarity with the city’s unique building codes. Choose contractors who provide clear, itemized estimates and can explain options for energy-efficient upgrades or solar integration. Ask about insurance, warranties, and references from past Seattle clients, especially if your home is historic or requires specialized electrical work.
