"Very honest bid for the project. Mark did not recommend the highest grade of heat pump because we didn't need it...saved us a lot of money for no real benefit with the larger pump. They sent the quote within 24 hours. The workers took a total of one day to complete the whole project, and they were neat and very professional. Great recommendations for brands of air filters and the pros/cons of each. Very careful with existing furnace. Did not recommend replacement of the furnace because it was in good shape and was a perfect fit for our 2900 sq. ft."

"Bradley knows what heâ  s doing. I originally hired Seatown Electric to come out and install an in-house backup generator. Bradley came out to install the generator and found that we had some pretty dangerous wiring at the panel and it was not nearly up to code. I was in the HVAC industry 30 years ago and the mechanical theory in which Bradley explained made complete sense. Bradley finished up the generator install and he gave me a bid to fix the issue. The same day, we called Seatown and we made an appointment for him to come back and do the work. Bradley and Austin showed up at 7:50am, 10 minutes before the job started. They met with me and got started. I always like to look at service techs trucks to see what kind of person is working on my home. Bradleyâ  s truck was immaculate. Extremely organized, very clean and it looked like a service truck that was on the DeWalt showroom floor. The instant I saw Bradleyâ  s truck, I knew his work was going to be perfect. The professionalism from both Bradley and Austin was outstanding. They worked extremely hard for almost 11 hours that day. They didnâ  t mess around, they had their mind set on the job and I was extremely impressed at their work ethic. We have been through 4 major renovations between our two homes and have used a myriad of different contractors, but never have we had a team close to as good as these guys. I would put every apprentice with Bradley, he knows what he is doing. Seatown is lucky to have this guy, they better take care of him. Great job guys!"

"This is hands down the only electrical/hvac company you need in your phone. Easiest, most efficient owner and teams you will find in the Seattle area hands down. Been working with these guys for 7 years, each project we tackle is actually fun because they make it so easy!"

"This was an excellent customer service experience. I selected Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating in Lynnwood, WA on the strength of Angie's List reviews that describe actual furnace repair work rather than other companies that seem more focused on doing furnace replacements. (Day & Nite do replacements, of course, but the reviews cited a fair number of repairs as well.) Although my gas furnace (a Carrier Weathermaster 800) is about 20 years old, my circumstances didn't allow replacement. When I contacted Shondra in their office about available appointments they were booking several days out, but were able to move it up a day and a half which was very appreciated given the cold nights. Tyler was the HVAC-R Technician sent for my appointment and he was amazing - both personable and knowledgeable, he listened to my concerns and quickly diagnosed and fixed the unit. He also understood that I am someone who likes to know details on what is being done and why – not too much detail, but enough so I felt informed which reassured me. Tyler’s great customer service and positive attitude, on top of his knowledge and experience with the technology impressed me so much I signed up with Day & Nite for their annual furnace maintenance plan next winter and will happily refer my friends and family for their furnace needs. I have yet to experience the Day & Nite plumbing services, but on the strength of my experience with Day and Nite and support by Tyler, I will give them a call when that need arises. (FYI: The approximate service cost of $600 included the ignitor part less a 10% customer discount for signing up for the maintenance plan, the trip charge and that for next winter’s maintenance trip, plus tax.)"

"John, the owner of the company, came out to my house in Mountlake Terrace from his office in Woodinville to provide me with a bid for a new furnace. He was actually the third of four companies to come out and bid my job. When I started this whole process I didn’t have any experience with furnaces so I had to be walked through the whole process of what to look for. In hind sight I now know that John was the only person to explain everything that I would need to look for when buying a new furnace. He took a look at my old furnace and how it was installed. We then went into the house to discuss my options. He explained in detail the differences and benefits of each of the furnaces that he had to offer. One thing that I really liked about his approach was that he never asked me how much money I wanted to spend. Instead, he just walked me through his options and asked me which furnace(s) I thought I might be interested in. He took down my information and left me with a brochure to look through also letting me know that if I had any other questions I could call or email. He would get back to me with an emailed bid the very next day. A day later I received the bid and looked it over. Once I received bids from all of the other companies I decided to move forward with Bassett. The bid was explained well, the product was name brand and the price was right on (not to mention great ratings on Angies list).

On the day of the replacement John showed up with his two sons (both work for his company) right on time and got to work immediately. The whole installation process only took about 2.5 hours. John and one son worked on the furnace installation while the other son installed the new thermostat. Once the thermostat was installed he headed out to help with the furnace installation. After they were finished installing all the new goodies John brought me out to the garage and showed me the work they had done. He explained the routing of the new gas plumbing and showed me where the condensate was routed to the outside of the house. The furnace also had a condensate pump and fan that he explained how to operate. He showed me where the filter was and told me to change it out 3 times a year which he had also written in sharpie on the filter cover so that we would remember. Once we finished up inside we headed into the house to get a run down on the new thermostat. He knew all the ins and outs of programming the thermostat and taught me how to set everything up in just a few minutes.

The whole time they were installing I was working at my computer in the living room and was never disturbed with noises or interruptions which I really appreciated. The old furnace was only running at about 45% efficiency so you can imagine how costly it was to heat the house. As a result we were forced to keep the thermostat at 62 degrees. Burr! The heat is on now and the house is finally warm! Thank you Bassett Home Heating!!

"Dakota came out a couple of weeks ago and checked out my electrical panel and quoted me the cost of a few projects. Today he came and installed three new outside outlets. I was impressed with his knowledge on the first visit and very impressed with his skills and the quality of his work today. He is a very approachable young man and was able to answer all of my questions. This is a 45 year old home and he gave me confidence that the electrical system is up to standards. I have used Hart for plumbing and electrical for almost a decade in my previous home, and started using them for hvac as soon as they expanded into that business. I’ve been in this house for almost a year and one of the first things I did was sign up for their customer care plan. I love ❤️."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

At a minimum, an HVAC system should be serviced once per year. However, a twice-a-year service schedule—once in the spring for the cooling system and once in the fall for the heating system—is often recommended, especially for older systems, heat pumps, or in climates with extreme temperatures. Regular service, which includes inspection, cleaning, and maintenance, ensures the system runs efficiently, helps prevent costly breakdowns during peak seasons, and can extend the unit's lifespan. You can also schedule a service if you notice issues like poor performance or strange noises.

An AC inspection costs anywhere from $75 to $200, while a full HVAC system inspection that includes your furnace ranges from $200 to $450. While there's a cost to a home AC inspection, it can save you hundreds or thousands in the long run by catching problems, avoiding breaks, and saving you money on your utility bills.

While personal preferences widely vary, sleep experts say the best temperature for sleeping is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit rather than 78. If you do choose to sleep with your AC unit tuned to 78 degrees, you might want to use only a sheet or light blanket rather than a comforter. You might also consider installing a window unit in your bedroom so that you can be cooler in bed without wasting energy cooling the whole house.

The decision to put your AC unit on the roof or ground depends on the climate in your area, the roof shape, accessibility, and budget. If you live in a warm climate or don’t have existing ductwork, it’s likely best to stick to a traditional AC unit that sits on the ground. However, if you lack yard space, live in a mild climate, and have easy access to the roof, your home may benefit from a rooftop AC unit.

Capacitors are the most frequent part of an HVAC system to experience failure. These components are crucial for starting the motors that power the fans and compressor, but over time, they may become worn or fail due to electrical surges or regular wear and tear. When capacitors malfunction, HVAC systems may experience decreased heating or cooling efficiency, or even total system failure. Replacement or maintenance of capacitors is a common requirement for the optimal functioning of HVAC systems.
