They clearly knew what they were doing and handled the EV charger installation quickly and professionally. Everything was done neatly, and they made sure the setup looked clean and organized before finishing up. It’s refreshing to work with a company that’s both courteous and efficient. "Kelvin was extremely helpful and knowledgable of all that we needed to have repaired and upgraded. He was very helpful in obtaining the permits we needed and communicated with the inspector for two inspections and met him at our property on our behalf. He went well beyond the minimum, making our entire system more secure and able to last for a number of years. He was very polite, accommodating and even adjusted to our time zone for our communication. He provided images of the work he completed with clear explanations. He sent us estimates and always checked with us before going ahead. We were so fortunate to be able to have Kelvin assist us."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

There are a few signs of a faulty or failing dimmer switch. This includes your dimmer overheating or feeling warm to the touch, buzzing or clicking noises coming from the dimmer, your dimmer failing to properly dim the lights, and flickering lights. That said, these signs could signal other electrical issues. You’ll need a pro to figure out if your dimmer is the source.

Yes, if something sparks when you plug it in or turn it on, it's important to unplug it immediately. A spark from an electrical appliance or device could indicate a short circuit, damaged wiring, or other electrical problems that could cause electrical fires or electrical shock. By unplugging the appliance, you can reduce the risk of electrical hazards and prevent damage to the device itself. It's important to avoid using the appliance until it has been inspected and repaired by a licensed professional to ensure that it’s safe to use.

A C-wire is typically blue, but don’t rely on colors to find which wire is which when it comes to thermostat wires. The C-wire may also be black, brown, or purple. Instead, if you’re looking for the C-wire, look at the thermostat panel for a wire connecting to “terminal C,” or call in a pro to help you look for a C-wire.

To prevent a plug from overheating, always ensure that the electrical load connected to the plug does not exceed the plug's capacity. If the plug feels hot to the touch or emits a burning smell, immediately shut off the circuit breaker and unplug all devices from the hot outlet. Prevent electrical fires by avoiding using extension cords or adapters with the plug, as they can cause it to overheat due to increased resistance. Additionally, ensure that the plug is properly inserted into the outlet and that the outlet is not damaged or loose.

The Occupational Safety and Home Administration (OSHA) requires an electrical panel to have a minimum of three feet (36 inches) of room from the front of the panel to the closest obstacle. In this case, the word obstacle refers to nearly everything, including walls, machines, and other fixed objects. Additionally, panels require at least 6½ feet of headroom in the area directly in front of the fixture. These requirements help ensure safe use of the panel and allow electricians plenty of room to work.
